“Good for everything!”
Reviewed 9 March 2013

My first time stayed in this hotel for 7 nights. Unbelievable GREAT! Everything is just right.. Warm welcoming, nice & cozy lobby, very comfortable bed (the most important), clean & tidy bathroom... Gym ok & swimming pool is a bit small. Some rooms are under renovation and may have noise during daytime. I was put at the renovated room but don't get too high expectation to see a brand new decorated room and it's just minor thing, bearable!...
Nice highend neighbourhood, just 10 mins walk to Orchard road where you can start your crazy shoppings & eatings.. right next to hotel is Tanglin mall, they have what you need... i.e. starbucks.Morning traffic is fine but need to queue for taxi to get out... 5-15mins.. I used to stay at MBS & Swissotel Stamford before but I will definitely come back here to stay again.

Two night stay. Suite 855. Absolutely superb. Style. Suitcases almost beat us to the room. Undyingly outstanding service from the staff. Room service unbelievably good and beautifully presented - table brought to room, set up, served. Tip declined! Food excellent. Pool staff second to none - regular provision of water, canapés etc. Pool facilities - showers, changing rooms for use after check out so perfect. A memorable end to our holiday in Australia. Will always try and stay here in future when going through Singapore.

Cannot praise highly enough.

I like Regent Singapore for its position and professionalism of staff. Room are a little bit old and air conditioning not perfectly functioning but the service in general is excellent ( swimming pool and gym as well ) . This time I was not given a quite room, so do not ask for inside room, since you can listen to noises from the hall or cleaning very early in the night ( 1-2 am ).

Room Tip: not inside room, ask for higher floors

Like
1) Multi socket plugs available next to bed and working table
2) Height of bed is higher than normal hotel beds, long bed pillows, fluffy bedrobes & towers
3) Hair dryer is mobile and plug point is just next to a mirror located just outside the toilet as some folks prefer to dry their hair out of the toilet as its gets pretty dampy after a hot shower
4) thick carpets to walk on from the respective floors right to one's bedside
5) TV speaker in the toilet to keep one intune for important news
6) Large LCD TV...Sony & many free to view channels
7) Wireless house phone
8) Free Wifi in room
9) Airconditioning along staircase leading from basement to the hotel entrance
10) Free Dilmah tea from Ceylon/Sri Lanka in room & nice lift with of internal facade (bubble lift?)
11) Professional and efficient staff plus friendly staff at the Basilico restaurant
12) Steam bath and jacuzzi (near pool) and cool towers & cool water is available
13) Sun tan lotion, floats, ball, water guns? available where pool towers are given
14) Staff prepare deck chairs for you and cool water is offered free of charge
15) Nice flower fragrant as one enter the hotel lobby
16) 3 mins walk from forum shopping center (ToysRus, Pharmacy, Mc Donald, Armani, DKNY); Hard Rock cafe, Far East Shopping Center (electronics, tailor, money changer, gems, cheap local food); Starbucks, Italian, Karaoke & Cold Storage supermarket are found along this 3 - 5 mins walk. It's the older type of shopping centers where one can have a better bang for one's money
17) Very clean rooms.

Dislikes
1) When flushing, it tends to be loud hence can hear the same action from one's neighbour
2) Newspaper is issued free upon request
3) Average number of choices for breakfast from Basilico restaurant unless you are into juice and cold dishes though the damage on wallet is S$47.10 for adult and 1/2 price for kids
4) If you have sensitive nose, be prepared for the flowery fragrance at the lobby though one can enter via the sides of the hotel
5) Ultra modern shoppers may to like the older shopping centers hence need to walk further (10mins)
6) Didn't get any help with luggage when arriving
7) Small swimming pool.

Remarks
Special mention to bespectacled staff from Penang at the pool as very courteous and willing to serve attitude.

Tips
If this hotel is full, check out Hilton as its down the 3mins road.

Enjoy the comfort, convenience and very clean rooms

Most frequently booked hotel in Singapore so far to date. Situated and the upper side of meat packing Orchard Road, you will find yourself surrounded by peace and calm.

Spacious room and good room service!!

Rather reasonable price for a used-to-be the best hotel on this island :-)

Stayed 1 night on route to Sydney. Arrived at hotel at 10.am and were delighted our room was made available by noon. Whilst waiting we were directed to fitness suite and outdoor pool where we could shower and rest. Every 30 minutes a small treat arrived at your lounger side, ( iced lemon water, peeled fruit or smoothie).
The superior room was spacious and really quiet (Singapore is very noisy from building works) with a really comfy bed.
Ate in the hotel restaurant, breakfast and dinner as the reception gave us a 50% off food voucher for both meals.
Throughout stay the feeling of welcome and friendliness emanating from staff at all levels was best I have ever experienced.
Hotel booked as part of Singapore Airlines stopover package.

Before I review this hotel, I stay in a range of accommodation on my travels ranging from no star to 5 star and base all my reviews on value for money and expectations.

I stayed at The Regent for 5 nights with my mum as a stop over before going to Indonesia. Our flight arrive early morning and we got to the hotel at 9am. We had to wait until 12pm to check into a room which was tiring after a long flight from London but as their policy was check in at 3pm it was not a problem. So we waited in the hotel lobby.

Upon check in, I must of not heard that our room was a double. As I was on holiday with my mum sharing a double bed for 5 nights is completely unacceptable as we had requested a twin room. After discovering this, back to reception we went to change rooms. This time we got a twin room which I cannot understand why we didn't in the first place.

Exhausted we had a nap for about an hour and then realised our suitcases had not turned up. We phoned reception and eventually got our bags to change clothes etc. Again not 5 star hospitality at it's best!

We went out for the rest of the day and came back to go straight to bed. The room was really noisy I could hear what sounded like hot water pipes going on and off for hours. At first I assumed someone in the room next to us was taking the world's longest shower, but got up to investigate and discovered our room was next to a linen room which explained the noise! So at 2am, another visit to reception to change rooms! The staff were really good I have to say as and we got upgraded to a suite twin room which was really nice of them.

This room was much better, however I still found it really noisy but kind of assumed the whole hotel suffers the same problem. I am not sure if it was an old air con system or water pipes. You also hear a lot of noise from the corridors and road outside. Not the greatest nights sleep!

The interior is very outdated and the carpets and fabrics are stained in areas. The bed linen is stiff and over starched. Needs a bit of renovation.

No free wifi or breakfast which is disgusting for the price but many 5 star hotels are like this. The pool is tiny for the size of the hotel.

Some positives: good gym facilities, staff were friendly and helpful, near Orchard Road and botanic gardens.

Overall I would not stay again. But definitely will come back to Singapore it was an amazing place I loved it!
