“Great hotel with great service”
Reviewed 3 September 2011

We stayed here for 3 nights at the end of our honeymoon. As part of our package we were upgraded to a deluxe room on the 18th floor overlooking Marina bay. The views were out of this world and gave an unrestricted view of the Singapore skyline.

The staff in this hotel were extremely helpful and polite. After going for a quick drink when we first arrived the manager of the axis bar greeted us with a nice card sent to our room as well as a complimentary dessert to try because we liked the look of it. We were also treated to complimentary champagne at breakfast one morning as well as a bottle of wine when we arrived.

This was a great base for exploring what Singapore had to offer and the only downside was probably the prices of drink and food which were quite expensive.

Our visit to Singapore was a three day stopover for my wife & I before heading home after a 12 week sojourn in the Middle East and Europe. The choice of this hotel was just what we needed.
The view from our room was magnificent - it took in the city, harbour, Marina Bay Sands Hotel, Casino & Shopping Centre, and the Art & Science Museum
The staff, facilities, and restaurants were simply excellent - although we must admit that the specialty restaurants were quite expensive and under utilised during our visit. The breakfast buffet was simply one of the best we have experienced.
The hotel is very centrally located and close to underground shopping links.

Had to make a quick trip to Singapore for a meeting and spent the night at Mandarin Oriental. Beautiful property, and rooms. Stayed in Room 2101, gorgeous small suite overlooking Marina Bay and downtown Singapore. Room was clean and well equiped with amenities. King size bed was exremely comfortable. Since I arrived about 7pm and had an early meeting next day, did not eat at any of the restaurants that night or use the spa. Found everyone I met to be friendly and helpful. Reasons I don't rate property higher are:
1 - They have a great Bose sound system in the room but I could not get it to work. I may not be the biggest "Techie" but it is pretty bad when you have to read directions on how to turn on the sound on the TV.
2 - My meeting ended at 11:30a and check-out was noon. Had to check-out before my meeting started for they woud not extend my stay to 1p so I could use the room to change. They did say they had "Changing Rooms" on the 4th floor I could use, which turned out to be an oversize bathroom next to the swimming pool. NOT what I had in mind or where I wanted to take off my suit to put on travel clothes (had a 9 hour trip with connections).

Room Tip: ask for a low numbered room (01 - 10). They face the bay and provide an incredible view of downtown...

We arrived at the Mandarin Oriental after a very long flight and was the first leg of our holiday and wow was the hotel impressive!!
From the door men, to the receptionist who checked us in (and upgraded us! thank you), everything was just perfect and the service what you expect from a 5 star hotel.
The beds are comfy, location great and the staff really do make this hotel a pleasure to stay in.

Mandarin Oriental is in a great location; hotel services and amenities are divine. Views from rooms are spectacular. Executive club has wonderful food and great concierge service. The italian restaurant is delicious nd you can dine outdoors near the pool- very refreshing. Only downside is to be careful when asking doorman for a taxi. Twice they put us in a "limo taxi" which costs twice as much as regular taxi. Just ask for "normal taxi" and you'll be fine.

I had booked a Premier Harbour View room for three nights' stopover in Singapore on way back from work visit to Australia. On arrival, the receptionist suggested an upgrade to the Oriental Club for a reasonable daily charge. This proved good value as breakfast and an early evening buffet were included along with free internet access and a 6PM checkout (and no problem about staying in the Oriental Club Lounge until I needed to go to the airport). The room was excellently equipped with superb bed and lots of little touches, even a bookmark on the bedside table for my book. Staff were very hospitable without being excessively obsequious, and used my name without needing to ask what it was. The evening hors d'oeuvres buffet was plenty to make a dinner unnecessary, but I ate in the Cherry Garden (Cantonese food) one evening and had a delicious Chinese meal. As a solo traveller, I was glad that wine was available by the glass. Overall, a tremendous experience, and I hope to return soon.

One small niggle: the hotel is adjacent to the Marina Square Shopping Mall, but there did not appear to be a direct entry from the hotel to the mall - it was necessary to leave the hotel, walk about 100 metres and then go up a rather shabby staircase and a narrow passage to gain access to the mall. The nearest MRT stations are all about 500 metres from the hotel, but frequent buses from the stop on Raffles Avenue opposite the hotel go to Orchard Road.
