Mandarin Oriental, Singapore

This is a lovely hotel in a good location. The staff were very good but we felt let down by a number of things including:
- on arrival as a family of 5 we were shown into adjoining rooms with a total of 3 beds (despite having booked many months before and clearly advising our requirements);
- various features in the room were clearly showing signs of age; and
- a very busy breakfast area that lacked charm and polish.

Compared to many places this is a wonderful hotel but it simply didn't live up to what I would expect of the brand.

I must have stayed in hundreds of hotels all around the world and Mandarin Oriental is probably one of the top 5 hotels.
Top location & fantastic staff, great interior design. We stayed in a beautiful room facing the The Marina Bay Sands. If I try to find a fault, its the bland breakfast and very soft pillows - the rest is just perfect.

Stayed here last week for work and could not fault the hotel - the location is great, just up a flight of stairs into a mall which connects with the Suntec conference centre . The shopping mall takes you to the MTR, and across the road is Marina Bay, so MBS/Gardens are within wlaking distance ( but it is a bit of a hike in the heat to the Gardens).
Rooms are spacious and ask for the highest floor possible with an ocean view - it really is worth it to pay a bit more to see the MBS and light show.
The pool is 25 m so fine for laps when the kids have gone and the view from the pool across Marina Bay is wonderful. The gym is also well kitted out with plenty of modern bikes and treadmills
The service was excellent when I asked for newspapers and travel advice, didn't have breakfast there but it looked good, room service seems wildly expensive considering there are so many great local food courts in the malls and these are open till 10 pm most nights

Room Tip: High as you can, ocean view if you can afford it

We stayed here for 5 nights as part of a trip to celebrate our silver wedding anniversary. On arrival we were delighted to be upgraded to a harbour view room on the top floor with a view of the Singapore Flyer and Marina Bay Sands. Initially we went out for a walk and when we returned a tray had been left in our room with a bottle of wine, pralines and a cake for our anniversary. We thought this was such a lovely touch.
Breakfast at Melt is very varied and plentiful. We were greeted warmly each day and on our first morning we were shown around all of the individual food stations.
The location of the hotel is excellent. You can easily walk to the Singapore Flyer, Gardens by the Bay, Raffles and the shopping mall at the Marina Bay Sands. We also walked back to the hotel from Orchard Road and Clarke Quay.
We found all of the staff to be extremely friendly and helpful. It would be hard to point anyone out as they were all so good. Most days we visited the pool area after our sightseeing. The staff were very attentive and brought ice cold cloths to refresh with and constantly kept us topped up with iced water. The staff at the concierge desk were excellent in their knowledge and the advice they gave us.
We would highly recommend this hotel as a perfect base in Singapore.

Mandarin Oriental is an excellent hotel for business and family travel. Rooms are clean, spacious and service is excellent. Breakfast spread is good. Gym and Spa facilty is highly recommended. Hotel is right in the center of city and located near to Marina Bay Sands. It is colocated with the Mall, hence a quick hop takes one to the shopping mall. Wifi is free. Overall good hotel with excellent service. Highly recommended.

Room Tip: Choose the top floors for a good view

My husband, child and I stayed in this hotel in July 2013. We were pleased with the impeccable decorations and amazing views. The service was amazing and the buffett was worth every penny- especially in the morning. Don't miss the night safari at The Singapore Zoo, it was one of the best memories of my life. It was very unique but be careful if you are weary of specific insects. The only thing I did not like about this hotel was that there were policies about attire that I did not expect. As an athlete, I don't understand why the hotel would wish you to be dressed appropriately all the time and this made me anxious on the way to the pool as well. However, I'm not really sure how much this is actually enforced. The location was fabulous because it is literally connected to a mall with an arcade and many dining opportunities. Overall, I would recommend this for anyone! If someone is unhappy with this hotel, they probably have their own personal issues. This is something to see! Don't miss the skyline at night near the pool.

This hotel met great expectations and is easy to recommend. Stayed here during APM 2014 which meant walking distance to Marina Bay Sands. You can also walk to Suntec City.

Rooms are spacious, clean and all you can expect from this type of hotel. Of course, the rooms in the highest floors overlooking the Marina Centre are the best. Breakfast was absolutely amazing. Free wifi, excellent service and of course location made this a very pleasant stay. On check out day they stored my luggage and lent me a room for a shower and change before I went to the airport.

Last time in Singapore I stayed at the neighboring hotel, Pan Pacific, which is also a nice experience. However, I think the Mandarin Oriental was a better choice.
