This hotel is not one of the newer ones in Singapore and probably needs refurbishment, but it is a very well kept property, located conveniently and with a great service. Rooms are ok, not stellar, but the main perk of this hotel is the fact that they have an onsite Morton's Steakhouse. One of the better ones I have visited and the service was great as well.

The irony of the sexist policy at luxury hotels throughout Asia is they still think women are objects, like the "Singapore Girls" on Singapore Airlines. During the Club lounge breakfast, men are required to wear long pants, while women can wear anything they want.

The most agregious thing though are the wait staff at the club, all women of course and they seem to be deliberately hired for their long legs. Their long legs are shown repulsively through slits in their dress that reach from their waste to the ground. These slits open the entire dress as they walk. It is nauseating and gives the feel of being in high end gentlemens club. Especially since men are required to cover their legs entirely. Hugh Heffner would enjoy their Club loungeg.

If you put aside their outdated, sexist policies, the hotel would probably get four stars.

Pros -
Amazing pool with attentive staff, the pool is the best thing about the hotel
Club lounge breakfast offered an excellent display of beautiful fresh fruits, breads, fish and other things as well as an a-la-carte menu with a kitchen that cooked everything perfectly.

Cons -
The Club rooms are too small, almost identical to the Mandarin Bangkok rooms.
The Club reception staff were much friendlier than the staff downstairs. You'd think in a hotel like this every member of the staff would provide outstanding service.

My suggestion is to stay at the Valley Wing at the Shangri-La, it is MUCH better in almost every way.

Since this review contains absolutely no profanity, threats, prejudiced comments, hate speech, sexually explicit language or other content that is not appropriate for our community, it obviously should not be wrongly censored.

This review is an accurate first hand account of my stay. I could certainly have used profanity or sexually explicit language to describe the atmosphere at the Club Lounge of the Mandarin Oriental Singapore but I most certainly did not. I expect therefore that if this review is once again wrongly censored that the censors describe EXACTLY what word or words they wrongly say violate their policies.

Also to be perfect clear this is a report of the Mandarin Oriental Singapore, 5 Raffles Ave, Marina Square, Singapore so stop trying to censor the review with outright lies about the content of the review or the hotel which is being reviewed!

Room Tip: Take a harbor view room IF you decide to stay at this sexist hotel

This is the second visit to this hotel. Everything remains prefect. Good breakfast. Although it is not close to Orchard Road, but shopping and eating is convenient. Close to MRT station. Beautiful view. Thank you.

I stayed at this hotel recently for a conference. Whilst a lot of things were what you would expect from the Mandarin (warm service at check in for example) you wouldn't expect to have a fresh towel with a brown stain on it.

Fortunately, just before I was about to dry my face I noticed it and put the towel to one side and took a few photos. I'll spare you those. However, on check out I did mention this and front desk apologised and asked me to email them. Which I duly did. Never heard anything since.

So....if having clean towels that dont have dubious looking stains on them is high on your list of priorities then you might want to avoid this property.

The room lighting system was also one of the strangest I have ever come across. The main light which was done a short corridor seemed to control everything including the bathroom light. So, if you wanted to go to the bathroom (with some light) after you had turned everything off (and given the towel situation at the start of my stay I did!) you had to trudge to the front door of the room. Or maybe I was just to dumb to work it out.

Internet worked great. Bed was comfortable and the a/c worked great and was pretty quiet.

Hotel bar lacked atmosphere on the two nights that I was there.

All in all, apart from the towels it was ok. Wasn't great value for what I paid and I'd rather head back to the InterContinental in Singapore than this hotel. Very poor show that the hotel didn't respond to my email about the towel.

Room Tip: Just check the towels are clean!

Our four nights at the Mandarin Oriental, Singapore, gave us just the best stopover from Sydney to London. From the welcome at the door on arrival to departure every aspect of the hotel met the highest standards we expect from a luxury hotel. All the staff seem dedicated to give top rate and friendly service. Though it is a large hotel, the personal approach made us feel that we were being especially looked after.

Definitely stay at the Mandarin again.

We took quite some time looking at what hotel to book for our 4 night stopover from New Zealand to England. Travelling with a 4 1/2 year old and 2 1/2 year old we had quite a long list of considerations when choosing what accommodation to book. The Mandarin Oriental has not failed to deliver on any front.

The service from every staff member is second to none; friendly, efficient and knowledgable.

Breakfast (sometimes a nightmare with pre-schoolers) was made so easy by the fantastic service we receieved; plastic cutlery, seat boosters, crayons and colouring in papers were provided and by day 2 our table was set up perfectly for us upon arrival to the restaurant. Waiting staff remembered our morning beverage order day to day without prompting and the choice and quality of the buffet was fantastic.

The pool area was perfect. Clean and beautifully presented; the separate children's pool was great for pre-schoolers, with several family sized cabanas for lounging/sitting on. The only possible flaw is a little slow and occassionally confused poolside service.

I have to mention the room service, as we sampled lots of it... travelling with two little ones and jet lag doesn't lend itself well to getting a baby sitter to look after them. The choice (including children's meals) was excellent as was the execution. So often room service meals feel like a poor cousin to the in-house restaurants, but not here. The delivery and food itself were fabulous.

We had two interconnecting rooms, which worked very well, but have also viewed the suites which could comfortably accommodate 2 adults and 2 pre-schoolers.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the MO, and will be back in a few months. It's the perfect hotel to stay at with a sophisticated feel but all the facilities to make a family holiday easy.

The Mandarin Oriental exceeded our expectations by far. The staff were very attentive without being intrusive, nothing was too much trouble, they were incredibly knowledgable too. I was unwell during our stay and they bent over backwards to supply me with ginger infused tea! Our room was on the 18th floor overlooking the bay and worth every penny, stunning views day and night. Breakfast was superb, so much choice. Excellent!

Room Tip: Higher floor harbour view.
