“Fabulous hotel, but the atrium can be noisy.”
Reviewed 25 July 2014

The Hotel is fabulous and in an ideal location for sightseeing in Singapore. Every amenity is available.
However, the hotel has one main fault. It is built around a large atrium. Noise carries throughout the hotel. The room doors are not adequately soundproofed. Listening to the wonderful pianist from our room at 11:30 pm is not what we had expected. The duty-manager did try to remedy the problem by getting maintenance to realign our room door. Soundproofing is something the hotel needs to look into further.
Service is excellent.

We stayed with our kids in the Premier Room . The room was spacious and basically decorated. It was odd that our welcome tray of fruit was empty and I am thinking the low vase with one orchid petal was missing a bloom? Not sure housekeeping had indeed finished the room. The bathroom was nice although the shower ran so hot that I had to call maintenance to fix it. The bed was just ok, it had a feather underlay and whilst some guests might love these, it was so hot and so soft to sleep on that we had to pull it out. The sofa was handy for day rest and one of the smaller kids to sleep on at night. The silk cushions in the room were quite dirty and I had to pull the covers off to let housekeeping know they should have them cleaned. Quite embarrassing for hotel this standard. A hotel room at this expense should offer pod coffee and not instant . Bar was well stocked but was pricey as often at this hotel range they are. The Pool was the best Facility for us. Get a cabana and ,let the staff do the rest.the service and attention was superb from Complimentary smoothies, face mist, sunscreen etc We ordered a great lunch a few times. The Axis Bar offers little appetisers ( lobster cakes for eg ) with happy hour cocktails which were delicious and a treat. The hotel is well situated and close to Singapore Flyer, Marina Shopping Centre, Raffles area. If you get tired of dating around here, jump a cab and bead to Kampung Glam, it's a 10 min ride at the most.

What a stunning hotel. Our room was the size of a one bedroom flat. I can't believe we only had one night there. Pricey but you get the luxury & service you expect from a 5 star hotel. Will definitely stay again.

Once again, I am reminded about the superiority of Asian hotels, as compared those deluxe hotels I have stayed at in Australia, NZ, and Europe (US included). Here service is taken to a higher level, where outside of Asia, no one else is truly capable of ascending, on a consistent, day to day basis. It's on the genuine smiles, the happy faces, and the nothing is a problem attitude. This is summed up by the hotel.
Easy check in - I was met at the hotel limo and checked in, in my room, not at the desk, staff greeted me by name - 7 day stay...
spacious and comfortable room, with view out over Marina Bay.
Swimming pool is awesome, 25M lap pool, friendly staff, always ready with ice cold water. there is even sunscreen and newspapers available on the pool deck.
Seriously, this is as good as it gets, luxury, and abundance of class and good service.

Room Tip: Order the hotel limo airport pickup - second time I have done this, and in both cases, this resulted...

Forget the Raffles and other hotels. This is the place for high tea in Singapore! We didn't stay in the hotel but stopped by for afternoon tea. We were disappointed with the tea at the Raffles (they serve tea bags not leaf tea!). The high tea at the Mandarin uses teas from TWG. There is a wide selection of leaf teas to choose from. At $40 per head, the high tea is excellent value compared to other hotels. There are 5 courses and you can have as many refills of tea as you wish. Tea is served in the Axis lounge and it has breathtaking views of Marina Bay. There is a grand pianist in the lounge who plays lovely music live all afternoon. The pastries, cakes and sandwiches are delightful, dainty, delicious and beautiful. The staff are courteous, friendly and obliging. We have been to a number of high teas and this is by far the best one. The Mandarin may not have the "colonial feel" of the Raffles but the quality of the food, tea and service is in our opinion superior. You also don't get that "tourist trap" feeling.

We are currently staying here and thought I would take the opportunity to write a review. We have enjoyed our stay. Our room is comfortable and the bed huge (perhaps a little on the soft side). We have eaten breakfast at Melt which was exceptional with a vast array of food. We also enjoyed drinks in Axis and @Bay 5 which is the bar by the pool. This is lovely at night because of the cool breeze and stunning view. It has been a favourite. The staff have been very polite and do an excellent job. The location is good with easy access to the Marina. The only reason I haven't given this 5 stars is because the MO in Hong Kong has the edge. We would however definitely stay here again.

Very friendly reception. Real quick service on entry and exit. Their cafe, Melt, probably serves the most variety for breakfast in any hotel in Asia-pacific. Good location, though a bit far from shopping destinations. Only complaint was the very dim lights in all public areas, almost like sitting in a dim light bar.
