“Excellent Stopover.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 May 2009

Stayed at Swissotel The Stamford on stopover to London in February and chose same hotel upon our return in April. We were treated with the utmost respect from the moment of arrival. From doorman, porter to reception, staff were excellent. We were stunned by the location of our room on sixtieth floor with the most outstanding views. Room service menu was outstanding. The housekeeping was also brilliant. A great hotel.

I've stayed at the Swissotel 4 times over the last couple of years - each time on business. I've got over 20 nights there in the last 9 months. On this last trip, I was there for a week.

I like the Swissotel. The location is fantastic with a mall underneath along with the City Hall MRT stop. Furthermore, there's the Citylink mall which connects to Suntec City, the Esplanade, or Marina Mall, so you don't even have to go above ground to explore the nearby area. There's a good selection of restaurants nearby, and Clark Quay is within walking distance. So, for tourist sites, the hotel is well situated.

The service is good - just friendly enough and efficient. I found the wait staff in the Swiss Cafe to have a bit of trouble finding the balance between hovering and attentive service, but it's better than being ignored. Housekeeping kept the room clean, towels replaced, and bed made. No problems there. Though, it should be noted that I was in Singapore on business and made very little use of the hotel staff, but I also had no problems that would require that I contact them. if it's raining outside, stop by the bell desk and they'll loan you an umbrella.

My room was on the 30th floor, and had a nice view of St. Andrew's Cathedral. I find the bed rather firm - a bit too firm for my taste. Otherwise, the sheets and pillows were fine. They use a lightweight comforter, which is hardly necessary. The room had the standard amenities - safe, iron, ironing board, hair dryer, tv, alarm clock, etc. The desk was good for working with plenty of electric outlets nearby. The outlets have universal receptacles, so no need for a plug adapter. Ethernet cable was a bit short for using their in-room internet. $S28 per 24 hours for the internet, which was fast enough. There's a very slight discount for multi-day internet plans. Like all the rooms, there's a sliding glass door and a balcony. Air conditioning worked fine for me. Bathroom was roomy enough with a combo bath/shower. There's a grate that gurgles a bit when the water is draining, but it's not a bother. I'm not wild about the complementary shampoo, but it does the job. Housekeeping kept the bathroom very clean.

I've done the breakfast buffet and lunch semi-buffet at the Swiss Cafe, and it's fine with a good selection of different cuisines. I do find breakfast overpriced at $S40 (inc taxes). This is really the only alternative for early morning breakfast in the hotel, though if you go around the corner to the entrance to the City Hall MRT station, you'll find a Starbucks and a 24-hour McDonald's. I've also had lunch at Kopi Tiam, which was fair. They use this space as overflow for the breakfast buffet at the Swiss Cafe. I popped up to the New Asia Bar on the 70th floor for a quick drink and to admire the view which is fantastic. It's certainly cheaper than doing the Singapore Flyer.

I'm afraid that despite all my nights at this hotel, I have never visited the gym nor the pool, but my colleagues tell me the gym is nice.

One note - on this last trip there was a rumbling of some sorts that would occur on occasion - I don't know what it was, though I'll chalk it up to nearby construction or something. Not loud enough to bother me, but I thought I'd mention it.

Check out was quick and efficient, though the desk clerk didn't ask me how my stay was.

We stayed at the swiss hotel the stamford in singapore. The hotel is very nice. The rooms are very spacious and comfortable. The best thing about the hotel is its location its very close to all the shopping area. Infact there is a mall connecting with the hotel itself. The view of the singapore city is very good from the hotel. Especially from equinox which is on the 70th floor. The hotel staff was very friendly and the breakfast on the 8th floor beside the pool area was awesome. The only problem we faced initially was there was very little variety of vegetarian food in the breakfast. But the hotel specially made other vegetarian breakfast for us. We stayed on the 28th floor we could see the singapore city.
The hotel has two swimming pools both on the 8th floor which was lovely. Guests could even play tennis and use the spa.
We paid 200$ per night for a room. It was value for money and the rooms had two double beds. We took 3 rooms as we were 9 people

Overall I would say this is a good hotel because its conveniently located from both the airport and to tourist place. Other than that the Air conditioning was not effective even after many complaints they could not fix it.

Stayed st Swissotel for the first time in Aug 08 and then a couple of times later. Had trouble booking the hotel at the lower floors as it was quite full and they booked me at the top floors. The view from the room was stunning. One could see the impressive Singapore sky line. I also had access to Equinox, their restaurant, though could never manage to make it due to meetings. The room was quite decent. But I had trouble with their aircons at night. Had their service engineer come over past 2 am at night, could not fix the aircon. When I fired the manager, he arranged for another room quickly. The same issue persisted another night as well and I just could not tolerate. I blasted the guy again and he waived off one night charge off my bill. Though it created a poor first impression. Would I stay again? Maybe.....but only because of its location. Its got the City Hall MRT running undernneath!

Its the tallest hotel in Singapore. The rooms were awsome.
We were put on 55th floor. The view of the city, was just so great, that you do not feel like leaving the room.
Price wise, it was worth. We had spent approx S$325 nett per room. The ambience, elevators, pool were just right.
The breakfast spread was not that great. We expected a lot more for the hotel of that a kind. Not much options for Veg.
Hotel not recomended for Indian Food Lovers.
