As a frequent guest of Fairmont hotels - Montreaux, Washington DC, Lake Louise, London and several more, this is the most disappointing stay that we have had in any hotel of this brand.

CHECK-IN - long lines gave a very rushed and impersonal first impression. Lobby has very fierce air-conditioning and an overpowering air freshener scent.

ROOM -we had booked a Marina View room which was clean and quite nicely furnished, but nothing special. The view of the Marina could be obtained by going onto the balcony and stretching my neck a bit!

HOUSEKEEPING - was a bit hit and miss - the first morning after breakfast we put the "do not disturb" sign on for 10 minutes while we cleaned our teeth before going out for the day. In this short space of time a note was pushed under our door saying that we had missed housekeeping for the day (this was before 10am) and giving a number to call if we required our room to be made up. On the second day we were out all day, popped back for half an hour to freshen up (around 6pm) before going out again and the room hadn't been touched - we had to use wet towels from that morning.

BREAKFAST was very good with a fair amount of choice and staff here were friendly and helpful.

POOL - incredibly few sunbeds (around 60) - considering the pool was shared with the Stamford next door which is a huge 72 storey hotel with over 1200 rooms, together with the Fairmont's 700+ rooms the chances of getting a bed are almost zero.

CHECK-OUT - not much faster than check-in and we were overcharged. Even though we were promised the the amount would be refunded to our card straight away it took several emails after our return home to sort this out.

OVERALL - an okay hotel in a good location but for the price they charge there are much better hotels in a similar location. If this hotel wasn't called The Fairmont I would have no idea that this was part of the brand. I will continue to support the Fairmont brand as this experience is not in line with my past Fairmont experiences, but Fairmont Singapore really needs to up its game.

We arrived about 7am very tired after a 12 hour flight from Europe and the wonderful young man at reception found us a room immediately without us having to wait for check-in time 2pm. This would have to be the most pleasant stay we have ever had in a hotel, nothing was too much trouble. Service with a smile from the most wonderful friendly staff. We would have no hesitation in recommending the Fairmont to anyone. Breakfast - heaps to choose from, all good. Good location.

... This hotel is highly recommendable. Service of the team is excellent – friendly and supportive people wherever you look ! Very nice and modern rooms, clean, very quiet and very well equipped. Breakfast is mind blowing and you should take the time ( and be hungry ) to have breakfast at the hotel. Shopping mal next to hotel with direct excess . Only thing you need to keep in mind : You better order a taxi in the morning otherwise you can wait easily 30 minutes ( which you do at many hotels in Singapore). If you look for a good hotel take the Fairmont.

They do a nice job. The lobby is good, the bar is well done for a hotel bar, and room service breakfast was good especially the dim sum. Good facilities. I wish the room had a stronger Asian design feel but overall a quality experience.

Location perfect for business, shopping and eating. On top of the underground system - easy access to all parts of Singapore and all imaginable shops and attractions nearby. Has changed names several times, now it is Fairmont - used to be Raffels the Plaza. Very well trained personnel, friendly and helpful - and respectful. All superior to many current Sing hotels. Rooms are being gradually refurbished to high standard, excellent bathrooms. Direct connection to shopping arcade. Could improve on the strenght of the AirConditioning, but this is the only improvement required.

We had one night in Singapore and wanted to stay somewhere convenient and very comfortable, Fairmont Singapore is both of those and more. Have stayed in the Fairmont Makati (which is equally as good) The newly renovated rooms are spacious and very comfortable. The staff were welcoming, helpful and friendly without being over the top. Have stayed in Singapore a few times and this location was great for a short trip. Shopping and marina are all easy walking distance, even in the heat. Would stay again and also recommend.

Our last review was titled "Wouldn't stay anywhere else" - so we stayed there again on our recent trip to Singapore. We were in a newly upgraded room - lovely decor and very comfortable. I love the fact that they have great sheets, decent sized towels and good water pressure in the shower. The location is unbeatable and the service, as usual, impeccable. They have changed the format of the food in the Club. Breakfast is fantastic because they now have an egg station but in the evenings the food is more appropriate if you intend it to be your only meal. There are no canapés as such for those of us planning to have a pre-dinner drink before heading out to one of the many excellent dining options in Singapore. But this is a minor quibble - frankly we did not lack for food in Singapore. We are passing through Singapore again in September and, you guessed it, we will be there again.

Room Tip: The club floor is always good value. The newly decorated rooms are excellent.
