We stayed in the Fairmont for 5 days while visiting Singapore. We arrived very early in the morning, so of course our room wasn't ready yet. We decided to have breakfast in Prego - one of the 9 restaurants run by the Swissotel/Fairmont/Raffles complex. The buffet breakfast was absolutely incredible - but very very expensive. We then got to wait in the hospitality suite for our room to be ready. While we didn't expect the room to be ready right away, we were quoted a time that was clearly unrealistic - so it was rather annoying to have to wait several hours longer than we were told. Once we got into our room though, it was fantastic! We were upgraded to a Deluxe Room, which was great! Although we were only on the 7th floor, we still had an amazing room overlooking the Singapore War Memorial, the Marina Bay Sands, the Singapore Flyer, etc.. The bathroom was great, and the minibar well stocked. All of the lights, air conditioning and drapes were operated via bedside control panels. We did have two minor issues - one with the bathroom lights not turning off and the other with the toilet not flushing properly - both were quickly resolved by maintenance.
Overall, my major pet peeves were with the ridiculous prices in the outlets - which were easily avoided by going into the several malls that were connected to the hotel. Additionally, they had a fabulous pool and spa area - but you had to pay extra to access the hot tub/steam room/sauna/fitness centre facilities. They also don't have wireless internet access in the rooms, which seems a bit archaic. Otherwise though - it was a fantastic hotel in which to base your Singapore travels!
