“What a joy”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 May 2010

We stayed at this hotel on route to Australia and had an amazing stay at this beautiful hotel. On arrival we were greeted by an enthusiastic and friendly receptionist who on hearing we were celebrating our 30th anniversary and special birthdaysupgraded our room. The staff couldn't do enough to help us and we were thrilled by the quality of attention to detail at every level. Despite the overcast weather we had a wonderful time in this lovely hotel and country.

The Valley wing of Shangri La in Singapore has got it all. For a business hotel.
Its quality of servience, ambiance and level of perfection putes in another league ampongst the world's leading business hotels.
It is an extraordinary hotel and I am coming back there year after year.

I stayed for 3 nights in the Garden Wing, and was quite disappointed with the room. It was a bit old and tired and really needed to be refurbished. I also had an adjoining door between mine and the room next door, and could hear every word that the occupants said when they arrived at 5am one morning! I would commend the hotel on their staff, the service was excellent - everyone I spoke to was friendly and helpful.

Coming back after 20 years and finding the same unbeatable atmosphere. All details in place, 100% service attitude, great food and that un-definable feeling of being at the top of the world

We had an unexpected extend stay in Singapore due to the volcanic ash delaying our trip from Sydney to Europe...my wife and I were fortunate enough to be sent to the Shangri La and the staff there were just super. Friendly and welcoming and helpful. We've transited through Singapore many times going "home" to see family but always plan to spend as short a time as possible there - had heard it was just another city but how wrong can you be?
The check in was flawless and we were given a great room and the staff were so helpful and accomodating and recommended room service as we were so tired after spending 20 hours + at Changi. The food was quick and delicious.
We were there the following night (Friday) and went up to the Blu bar for drinks - and had the fun added bonus of 60% off our drinks as my wife was wearing a four inch heel! Very cute and fun!
Can't praise the staff enough at Shangri La...lots of nice touches. The lift carpet is even changed every day so you know which day it is!

having visited this hotel 18 months ago i decided to return with my mother, wanting her to experience the wonderful hotel we had. The welcome upom arrivel was still just as good, effecient check in ,smiling staff, wondeful lobby etc, It is here the story cahnges. Our room was dirty,.....thick drink stains on the bedside cabinet, filthy skirtings, dusty worktops, thick dust around carpet edges. We had 2 wholes in 1 duvet cover. The office style chair was so badly stained they had to remove it from our room. Upon arrival we should have had chinese tea and a friut bowl...after 3 phone calls we got this 8 hours after arrivel. Company policy states all guests should recieve within 1 hour. The pillow menus are none existent. Our room was eventually cleaned. One day we even had to leave a note on the dresses asking for the coffe to be refilled. On our first visit we had no complaints, this 1 was so different. It was 1 of the nicest hotel we have stayed in but now it is certainly no longer up there with the best. Our visit commeced a few days before the flight disruption, so no 1 could say it was due to unprecedented demand. The Line restaurant is making serious failings. We ordered the complimentary birthday cake and never received it. They ran out of roast beef and did not restock....the desserts looked like a load of monkeys had eaten them and left the crimbs behind.....It was dreadful.Leaving a huge bitter taste in my mouth.I did speak to the duty manager regarding this matter who then said he would call me back aat 4pm the next day....he did not I callled him at 5.15pm he then told me he was busy would call back..which he did saying sorry for the poor room.Never offering any explanation. Perhaps the management are responsible for the drop in services............On the whole we had a very disapppointing 4 nights,The issues I raise may be minor to some, but all the small touches of this hotel had made it out shine the rest....Sadly this isn't happening now.

Stayed here for the third time in five years and coming here again felt like coming home. Everything was again perfect. Stayed in Tower room 1921 which was the best suite we have ever had in this truly five star hotel - very spacious, two windows, huge bed, large desk, lovely big bathroom fit for royalty, very tastefully decorated with every extra you could want (including L'Occitane toiletries.
We again experienced their spectacular international breakfasts at The Line restaurant with its 16 cooking stations, and the whole restaurant still looks brand new.
Pool was again in perfect condition in their beautiful botanical gardens. Suggest you try their fresh mango daiquiris and satay sticks poolside.
Staff here are always exceptionally helpful and friendly, right throughout the hotel. They make you feel special, like you are highly respected visiting diplomats but are friendly and often greet you by name. Their concierge assisted us to change flights, offered late checkout. This hotel will always be our first choice in Singapore.
