I went wondering how the old PP could be the top pick for trip Advisor reviewers - how would it stand out from all the other big box hotels in the area? Well after a four-day weekend with wife and kids, I can only join in all the other reviewers praising this place. Great service, great rooms, great hotel.

I would add that their pool side service is first class. All those free bottles of iced water. The gym has a good range of work out equipment in a largish space. The Rang Mahal Indian restaurant has fabulously good Indian food. Zambuca has good Italian food but a strained relationship between the kitchen and the staff. The Global Kitchen restaurant is good for the breakfast buffet, but dinner was more pedestrian (limited choice and not great execution on my roast salmon and prawn). Go for the burgers which looked terrific. On the other hand, the 25% early bird discount is perfect for families with kids - and my daughter says their banana split is the best she has ever had - and she is an expert. Had brunch at the Hai Tien Lo cantonese restaurant. The ordering system - a 'virtual' buffet you pick from a menu - takes some understanding. But the food has excellent interpretations of the usual Cantonese fair - and some interesting extras. Son says best duck he has ever tasted and he was born and raised in Hong Kong.

Personally I found the bed a bit hard - but the rooms were large, well appointed and newly refurbished.

But the staff make the place and it is reassuring to know that staff in hotels can be genuinely warm, friendly and helpful.

Arrived at Pan Pacific after disembarking from a cruise. Despite checking in early we were not only given our room immediately but upgraded to the club floor and all the terrific treats that come with it!

Complimentary minibar (non-alcoholic); drycleaning and laundry; in room wifi; breakfast, snacks and excellent evening cocktails with fab canapes.

The room itself had a stellar view of Boat Quay over to Sentosa. Add to that a massive balcony, a very comfortable bed, a swish bathroom: I didn't want to leave.

Our butler and concierge team were the friendliest and most personable I've ever encountered. Singapores' reputation as stand-offish and stuffy doesn't apply here.

Also loved the pool and spa.

To summarize, I'd be back there in a heartbeat.

We chose this hotel for being #1 in Tripadvisor, and definitely it's well earned. We were lucky enough to be upgraded on arrival to a Pacific Club room in floor 34 and what a view!!
The staff was always helpful, attentive and friendly, seems like they enjoy working at this hotel.
Room was excellent, with a comfortable working area (Aeron chair is a big plus), and the electric curtains are really nice. Bed is huge, but a little hard for my taste (this is personal opinion).
Bathroom was large, with a tub and shower, and lots of ammenities.
Breakfast was great, we had it at Global Kitchen in floor 3 (large selection) and at the executive lounge in floor 22 (less selection but more personalized service), and both were excellent.
They definitely won a customer and I would book Pan Pacific hotel again if I'm back to Singapore or to any other city in which they are.

My husband organised this for some down-time after touring Oz and what an absolute delight it was. Were upgraded to Pacific Club and would highly recommend these floors to everyone. Would easily have booked this if we had known what to expect before arriving. Staff exceptionally friendly in a genuine way and there just didn't seem to be anything that was too much trouble - everyone was out to please. As said before, the atrium is really quite amazing as are the carpets in the lobbies!!

General point:- If you can get this fantastic service in one 5* hotel, why can't they all be the same? Hats off to everyone at the Pan Pacific (especially David in the Pacific Lounge) - very well done indeed.

Loved Singapore all around, but this amazing hotel topped it off. Staff at check in were friendly in a genuine way (not 'transactional') and the hotel lobby is beautiful. The room - wow what a view, fantastic decor, flat screen tv, beautiful bathroom. I'm not sure what the twin rooms are like, but our shower and toilet were not very private, which we didn't mind but thought would be strange when sharing with a friend. Pool is great for a relaxing swim or to read a book on a sunbed. Also, it's attached to a shopping centre :)

This place was over our budget but we are soooo glad we went for it anyway.

Tip - Go in the glass elevator on the outside of the building! What a view/ride

We stayed here for a couple of nights in November 2008 after escaping from the Thailand airport riots. We didn't want to spend too much money after finding out our travel insurance didn't cover us for getting out of Thailand and having to spend £800 on flights. We arrived at 3am to find the hotel fully-booked, but after hearing of our plight the staff not only took pity on us and found us a room, but also gave us a very reasonable discounted rate. It was a great hotel in terms of everything else aswell - no complaints about the rooms, service, food etc, a truly 5 star establishment with great staff.

Beautiful hotel, great rooms, excellent service. Stayed 2 nights at this hotel and loved every minute of it. Enjoyed the beautiful pool in the afternoons with terrific poolside food service. The room was gorgeous (free upgrade to a balcony room) with views of the harbor and the Singapore Flyer (large observation wheel ride). The hotel was close to the colonial area, Boat Quay (nightlife), and inexpensive taxi rides to all other attractions. The hotel is also connected by walkways to 3 shopping malls, so this was a nice way to spend the very hot and humid midday hours (including massage and other personal services).

Concierge arranged a night tour for us at the last minute, and snce the hotel's usual tour company was fully booked, he called another company to pick us up for an equivalent tour.

I would definitely stay here and recommend it to all my friends.
