“Pleasant stay - will definitely come back again!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 16 August 2011

We stayed in Holiday Inn Atrium in April 2011 and i must say i was pleasantly surprised. I was very apprehensive at first about staying in a "hotel chain" after a few bad experience but Holiday Inn changed my mind. Just a few months before, we were in Singapore and we booked into a one of those modern boutique hotels near Clarke Quay. Thinking that we were getting good value and great service seeing that it was a small, we were so wrong.

On our return to Singapore, i looked around online for another hotel to stay and read reviews on Tripadvisor and this is where i found Holiday Inn Atrium. Two things that caught my attention was that guests said that the beds were big (king size) and that there was free shuttle to the city. Seeing that the hotel rates were reasonable, we booked one room for 2 nights.

We arrived from an early morning flight and took the train from the airport to Outram Park (this is the nearest station from the hotel but not walking distances). From there it was a short taxi ride to the hotel. Befitting their name, there was indeed a beautiful atrium within the hotel itself when you enter. Check-in at the front desk was fast and efficient. As we entered our room, we were pleased about the room size and the layout. The bed size was indeed large and was comfortable (yes, they have a pillow menu but ones we already had were good). We had a good and pleasant two nights of sleep especially after all the sightseeing/shopping we did all day. There was also a flat screen TV with good amount of channels, tea and coffee making facilities, a safe and bathroom amenities.

I think what made our stay enjoyable was the high level of service from all the staff. The overall staff of the hotel was great while their concierge was very friendly and attentive. Not forgetting is the housekeeping staff which must deserve a mention as one of the nights we spilled some tea on the duvet and within minutes of calling, one of their housekeepers promptly came and change the sheets all in a matter of minutes. He even offered us an extra blanket and said that he will leave it in the room if we need it just in case.

Other than that, do make use of their free shuttle and grab a copy of the daily schedule from concierge. We sat on a few rides to and fro Orchard Road in a comfortable tour bus like shuttle which is parked at the side entrance of the hotel. Do remember that you will need to call front desk or concierge to book you seats earlier. Also, taxis are easily available outside the hotel lobby itself where the doormen will hail one for you. If you are looking for a place nearby to eat or hangout, we were recommended by the hotel to visit Great World City Mall which is just a 10 minute walk but we still took a taxi anyway. It was a good mall with plenty of eating options and shops to browse.

Overall, Holiday Inn Atrium was a great value for our money. Although not as good of a location compared to our previous Singapore stays near Clarke Quay or at Orchard Road, it has been one of our best stays. We will definitely come back to stay in the future.

We spent 2 nights in Holiday Inn Atrium Hotel before our holiday in Indonesia and our experience was really good.
It had clean and confortable rooms, good service, a nice pool.
The best thing was definitely the elevator!!!!
Bad things: breakfast and wifi access (too expensive).
It wasn't very close to Marina Bay, but we could get the centre very easily by taxi (really cheap).
Go there!!!!

No need to introduce the Holiday Inn brand, but it's definitely worth pointing out that they are not the same all over the word. We've stayed in many of them, and all of them great value, good amenities and all of the same-same brand features. But the HI Atrium Singapore had us mightily surprised: A stunning building (awesome atrium with glass elevators), stylish and superbly equipped rooms with great views, super-friendly and helpful staff and very good facilities (e.g. business center where you can print 'War and Peace' for free (well, we did not do or even try that...)). The hotel is close to Robertson Quay with lovely local restaurants (none of the Boat Quay madness) Plus, there is a free shuttle to take you to Orchard Road.

We got our own little 5-star experience for a 3-star rate (booked online directly with the hotel). We suggest you try it when in Singapore.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor room away from the elevator (we had 2011, which had good views)

This is a typical Atrium style hotel with 27 floors (although the top few floors are executive rooms/suites for which you have to pay considerably more). But even rooms on the higher floors below that give you a great view over Singapore. We stayed for a few weeks for a mixture of business and holiday and we found that this hotel offered good value, provided all the things needed for a comfortable stay and was a great base for exploring Singapore.

Our room was a reasonable size and looked like it had been renovated a little recently (in fact there is clearly an improvement programme in place as the newly renovated swimming pool opened half way through our stay and new carpets were being fitted around the hotel). The room had a large bed, nice crisp bedding, as many pillows as you needed, a bath with a shower (this was a bit 'tired' and could do with replacing but it worked ok and did the job). In the room there was also a desk and chair, flat screen tv and a little table and armchair. I would note that we found the bed quite firm and this was an issue on the first night. However we were able to get a topper and an extra duvet from housekeeping to provide a bit of extra padding and after that it was fine.

We found the housekeeping staff to be fabulous - they brought anything we needed and did so within 10 minutes of our request - whether it be extra towels or a different pillow (they have a pillow menu from which to choose from!). They also cleaned our room efficiently every day. In fact Staff overall in the hotel were also really helpful and friendly. As we were staying a little while certain staff at Reception or at breakfast got to know us and remembered our name and room number which was nice and made you feel like you were not just a number!

The hotel has its own little coin operated laundry room with washers and dryers which, if you are here for a while, proved a lot cheaper than using the usual hotel laundry service (which is also available and was also very efficient). In terms of other facilities, there is a swimming pool (recently renovated) and gym. Foodwise there is a restaurant floor where breakfast and later on a buffet style lunch and then dinner are served (although we only ate breakfast there so cannot comment personally on lunch or dinner - though it seemed to be popular!). With regard to Breakfast if your rate does not include this, remember to book it the night before to get a reduced rate (about S$22 instead of in excess of S$30) - it sounds a lot but they really do offer a wide and varied range of food - both Western and Asian - and so we tended to get into the habit of having a large breakfast and then needed very little for lunch. There is also a lobby bar open all day for coffees and drinks. There is usually a singer there most nights and we found that the sound of this can drift up the atrium slightly - probably the nature of the building shape to some extent - but if you are very sound sensitive at night then you may want to ask for a room on one of the higher floors!

Some reviewers have made comments about the location of the hotel and it is true that it is not right next to an MRT station. However I never found this an issue. Singapore is not very big and taxis are very reasonable compared to other cities. There are also bus stops nearby once you know your way around. However in the main, I used the complimentary hotel shuttle service which takes you to either the main shopping centre (Orchard Road) or Clarke Quay where there is an MRT station. (In addition if you walk 5 minutes down the road to Great World City shopping Centre they also have a regular free shuttle to Orchard Road, City Hall and China Town which also connects to several MRT stations and I also used this a lot). In addition, the location of the hotel, does place you at one end of the River area which offers a wide range of restaurants to venture to during your evenings and is a nice area to go for an evening stroll.

Overall, we found Singapore a great place to visit and the people really friendly. There is lots to see and do - some fabulous museums, places to visit and great foods to try. My personal highlights were the Art Science Museum, National Museum of Singapore, Night Safari and Orchid Gardens in the Botanic Gardens. Do also get down to Marina Bay to see the free laser show that takes place twice most evenings and see how that area is being developed.

Room Tip: Try and get a room on a higher floor for the view. Pay for breakfast in advance for a discount

Best value for money hotel we’ve stayed in for a long time. Fifth visit to Singapore decided this time to try another establishment. We were not disappointed. Service from all staff was excellent from reception, housekeeping, concierge to restaurant, nothing was too much trouble. Any request was actioned promptly and efficiently. Hotel and room was spotlessly clean, food in restaurant was superb. Beds are large, could have slept the whole family, Rooms are of good size, with plenty of room for luggage. Regular free shuttle bus service to Orchard Road shopping, with a stop on the return journey close to Chinatown markets.

Only S$1 to catch a local bus to main shopping centres. Need to have right money as no change of notes possible. Great way to see the city. Lots of lovely walks around hotel, beautiful, clean city, with lots of colour. Tropical plants everywhere along the way.

Location falls behind the HI in Orchard Road, Style loses out to the Intercon in Bugis, Comfort is behind the Crowne in Changi - but if you are looking to stretch your dollar then the HI Atrium might be your choice!

Me and my spouse stayed here for a fortnight during the festive lunar new year and actually found our choice to be a good one. If you have a car, hotel parking is plentiful and free, location is very central and no ERP (toll charges) charges applies. There are plenty of good food around the hotel vicinity, check out the Zion Hawker Centre, Great World City Mall, Zouk Disco.

Be forewarned: If you are a pious man and frown upon sights of working ladies parading their stuff after the working hours of the KTV, you might consider changing hotel or sleeping in early.

Nice swimming pool. Suites are spacious and offer a great view of the cityscape, better still if you are staying over during National Day (Aug 9th) or Chinese New Year (Feb period) to catch a glimpse of the fireworks downtown!

Shuttle services to Orchard Shopping areas for tourists.

I heard the Dim Sum is worth a try.
