We stayed there in last Oct when we attended ITB Asia held in Singapore. The location is very good, only about 10 minutes cab ride to Suntec where the convention was held, costing $6-8 per ride. The smell of the lobby is unpleasant to me.

This hotel is in a great spot - close to MRT & (for us) the all important Queen st bus depot. Singapore is NEVER cheap, but I hoped that by paying that 'little bit extra' I might get so something a 'little bit ....more(?)', my thoughts were that it was only one night, our flight landed at 22:10 & we needed to be in JB (Malaysia) by noon. The room is very spacious, the room service is closed at 23:00 & the mini bar snacks were just uninteresting. The hot water was hot & plentiful, the bathroom adequate, bed adequate, soundproofing between the rooms pretty poor but our neighbour was tired too and went to sleep at about 12:30. Breakfast was easily the most average buffet I've ever seen in Asia (& I travel a fair bit), a few helpful staff, the older lady in the restaurant & in particular Mr Hutchinson (security) - but all in all for a total of $355 sgd not in my opinion good value - either stay cheaper & feel you've used your money wisely or try the Fullerton or others - just so ....so so.

Room Tip: Defiantly the higher floors, forget hotel organised transfer from the airport, we got one from Singa...

Love:
~ the location , the beautiful aromatheraphy smell throughout the hotel, the flat screen tv in the room, bathrobes, clean linens, helpful & friendly staff, plenty of halal restaurants nearby, textile (laces) shops across the street

Not fond of :
~ the old iron marked carpet in the room, the way I was kept waiting for almost 45mins for my bags to arrive after checking in

we stayed here 12-16th March. We booked a room on the executive floor and it was just fantastic. All the staff were so attentive & welcoming. It was very easy to get around the city from the hotel.Wouldn't hesitate to book here again.

Room Tip: We were on the 17th floor overlooking the sea, very quiet with great views

Thank goodness we only stayed for 2 nights. Like many other reviews have said the rooms are looking tired and need refurb if they want to attract western vistors. Room was dusty, carpet badly stained, tatty worn wooden furniture and the entry lighting didnot work. Bathroom was no better with broken electric fittings, mildew on most of the sealer round the basin/bath and numerous broken tiles on walls and floor. Only redeeming factor was close access to the Bugis MRT station. Restaurant breakfast clearly aimed at Asian guests. Went to the Subway across the road on the second morning for a tasty breakfast sub with bacon cheese and egg!

My wife and I stayed at the hotel from 05 Mar 2012 to 09 Mar 2012. While the location of the hotel is excellent with very close access to the Bugis MRT. However that is the only redeeming factor of the hotel The carpeting and other furniture in the rooms are ancient and worn out way beyond their use. Also the rooms are terribly noisy with constant disturbance from other rooms. It appears that the walls between rooms are made of cardboard and not concrete. The plumbing is also in bad shape so you can clearly hear each time the person in the next room has a shower. All in all stay at this hotel only if you cannot afford the other more upscale options avaiable in Singapore.

Room Tip: Stay at this hotel only if you cannot afford the other more upscale options avaiable in Singapore.

We stayed here from 20 - 27 Feb and found the hotel to be more than satisfactory. Our room was on 14th floor with great views of the city. I think it was probably one of the refurbished rooms as there was a flat screen tv and modern bathroom. Other amenities were robes and slippers, tea and coffe making facilities, safe, minibar and complimentary water. There was certainly no smell of cigarettes and the room was kept very clean with bed linen change every day. The only complaint I would have about the room is the lighting - my husband found it very difficult to shave in the bathroom and for me putting on make up was a bit hit and miss.

The breakfasts were okay - there is a choice of two restaurants for this. The dishes were the same every day. The staff can be a bit over zealous in clearing the tables which is not really a complaint but one time I had collected my food, put it on the table, went to get a spoon and when I returned it had gone!

The pool area was very welcome after a day's sightseeing but as previous reviews have pointed out this area is often used in the evenings for weddings etc so, although no one actually says anything, you do feel that you should leave the area as no one wants someone wandering through their celebrations in their swimming costume!

The hotel is very close to the MRT so getting around is a breeze. Also very close to Bugis Street market and food court.

If I were to return to Singapore I would stay here again. Singapore hotels are generally expensive and I do think this one was reasonably priced for what you get. The staff were very friendly, especially Adam on reception.

Room Tip: The higher the better.
