It is a budget hotel. Dont't expect too much. Location is good. Just within 5 mins walk to MRT. You can take 10Mins walk to Bugis and shop at Bugis Street. Rooms are in chinese style. Clean, washroom was in old fasion. Bed is just ok, can't say comfortable. We booked 2 rooms via SIA Stopover Holiday. It just cost HK$740 (US$95)per room. I can say its cheap as the hotels at Singapore are expensive. I have a baby and they can arrange a baby bed at free. It's ok if you looking for buget choice.

Good hotel, good service, expensive with no free internet facility, food is average, could get good food outside.

Room Tip: rooms facing the main road are a good view

My young daughter and I stayed for a week and had a great time. The hotel is very central, just down the road from Bugis Junction and Raffles city. It is also really close to the Bras Basah MRT station, which will take you wherever you need to go. We stayed in one of the unrefurbished rooms on the fifth floor, which was fine, though a little worn out. Was also great that they had laundry facilities so we could do our washing while we swam in the pool.

Stayed here for 1 night just your basic hotel. In good central location. The bedroom was small but the bed comfortable. Bathroom very outdated.
Reception staf very pleasant and very helpfully.
They charge 5 dollars an hour for the Internet and you can only use it at reception .Internet very fast.
Did not eat here.
Not a hotel I would want to return to.

We stayed here for two nights for $85 per night on a Singapore Airlines stopover package which was excellent value, given the outrageous cost of rooms in Singapore these days. I have stayed at the Grand Pacific many times before in it's emanation as the Allson and before that the Taipan Ramada, and am always comfortable here. There is still some of the indestructible rosewood furniture in the lobby. The room was not too small and the decor is modern, no nice old rosewood furniture left here. It has everything that you expect in a decent Singapore hotel: toiletries, robes, flat screen television, mini bar, coffee making.
Breakfast is not included and why would you pay for a hotel breakfast when the food courts of Singapore are outside?
I especially love the location of this place which is near Waterloo Street and the vegetarian restaurants at the Fortune Centre.

For the price we paid, we could have definitely found a better hotel. The room they gave us for 2 people only had 1 bed, and I was surprised by how small the room was for the price (room service could barely fit through the door). We were greeted by a half welcoming staff, meaning some welcomed us with a nice and warm greet, and some gave us the cold shoulder. I was lucky to receive any acknowledgement from any of the concierge from then on. The Location is great as long as you take a taxi to most places, Chinatown is about a 10 minute taxi ride. They give you a 50% discount on breakfast for in hotel guests, and even after the discount it is still a bit pricey. It is a mediocre breakfast buffet at best. The hotel itself was very clean and well kept. The maids did a great job with the rooms, and stocked the bathroom with plenty of toiletries everyday. Although it was my first visit to Singapore, I would not revisit this hotel. I' am definitely going to stay at other hotels and compare them to this one and see if this is just a standard hotel there.

We are a family of four with 7 and 11 year old sons. We had stayed at the Grand Pacific when it was the Allison Hotel many years ago and it was little changed.

Plus points:

-Very helpful and polite staff, even during busy periods
-Location -quie central and easy to walk to Clark Key and other attractions- about 20 mins
-Convenient Hawker center opposite the hotel
-Generally clean and well kept within the constraints of it being quite an old hotel.
-Beds big enough to hold a family of 4 in the 2 queen size beds in the room
-wash and dry facilities

Minus points

-Rooms and bathrooms were quite small and dark
-Breakfast was very average
-Pool area rather shabby and worn
-no little extras apart from two small bottles of water-

All in all, a good stopover hotel for a few days and very acceptable if you are looking for a good basic 4 star hotel in a good location.

Room Tip: Ask for a non smoking room.
