“Comfortable stay and good service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 July 2014

We stayed in a Premier Room for 5 nights in July 2014.

Pros:
- Clean rooms
- Spotless (though tiny) bathrooms
- Good service including room service
- Excellent breakfast spread
- Great crayfish laksa
- Friendly staff especially the charming cafeteria hostess and the omelette chef
- Reasonably priced cafe
- Abalone restaurant on the ground floor
- Walking distance from church, Bugis junction shopping area and eating joints
- Food court across the street
- Easy availability of taxis
- Short taxi ride to tourist spots like Little India, China Town, Clarke's quay, etc
- Located on Victoria Street main road
- Prompt and responsive reservation staff and reception staff

Cons:
- Careful of the seafood buffet if you are not used to it
- The room windows were sealed and could not be opened, sometimes giving a boxed-in feel for a long stay guest
- Bathrooms could be bigger
- Avoid the tour operators. Its better to take a taxi to the specific places that you want to see

Greetings from the Hotel Grand Pacific Singapore!! Thank you for your detailed feedback. We have shared your comments with our team at the Sun's Café and they are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your experience there.

We serve an Authentic Peranakan Buffet which is a blend of Chinese, Indian and Malay styles of cooking influenced by our settlers in the early years. As for the room windows this is in line with safety and security compliance in Singapore Hotels. We do have suites available in the hotel which also comes with a separate lounge area should you require a more spacious room.

Thank you once again for your feedback and we look forward to welcoming you again soon

Best Regards,
Kevin Singh

We stayed here for two nights just recently and were upgraded to a "Premier" room after booking a deluxe room. If the room we stayed in was considered one of the best i wouldn't like to see what the others look like. Our room was located on the 12th floor, unfortunately right near the elevator which when in the room you can hear every time it beeps or someone is waiting for it to arrive. The rooms are not sound proof at all we could hear next door talking and their TV through the walls. The bed was the hardest bed i have ever slept on. The bathrooms are tiny and don't have a fan so any steam/ smells stays in there for hours. The TV channels in the hotel were all basic with no entertainment. The overall room finishings were just poorly done including loose lamp fittings next to the bed, chipped/old paint on the ceilings, the carpet was old, the paint not being straight/ meeting up with the wall properly. The Wifi worked really well and the staff were beyond helpful and friendly especially the door-men and wait staff in the restaurant. Check in/ Check out seemed to take forever even though we were the only ones there.

Overall, the rooms are real dated and for the money we paid and the rating of the hotel we expected a lot more. The staff made up for the unpleasentness of the room however I wouldn't stay in this hotel again.

We just spend 6 nights at the Grand Pacific and I have to say I was very happy with our choice.
The hotel is has a great locations. It's only 10 minutes walk to Clarks Quay, to the Merlion is about 15 and to Chinatown 20. The rooms are small and a little bit old, but very clean with a very good bathroom. The hotel staff is very friendly and always willing to help you. Over all our stay was very pleasant

Greetings from the Hotel Grand Pacific Singapore!! We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us.

Our location is indeed perfect for both the business and the leisure traveller being in the heart of the city centre. We have shared your comments with the housekeeping team and they are elated to hear that the efforts they put in daily in ensuring cleanliness throughout the hotel have paid off.

Perhaps on your next stay you would like to try our Premier Rooms which have been refurbished although we still have guest requesting for our Deluxe Rooms that have a traditional charm with the nostalgic rosewood furnishings.

We look forward to being of service again on your next visit to Singapore.

Kevin Singh

My husband and I stayed here for three nights as a second stop over for our honeymoon in December 2013.

I understand Singapore is expensive but this hotel is not worth the money especially when you say staying in the “premier” style room.
The hotel is very run down and smells, specially down on the lower levels where the gym / pool is located.

The beds are ridiculous hard, the bathroom fitouts are old and grubby and the whole hotel has a drab feel about it.

I didn’t think it could get any worse but the so called “buffet breakfast” was horrible even my husband said that and he isn’t even a fussy eater. The food was cold and wasn’t very taste. I ended up just making my own toast every morning and avoided everything else.

The staff were friendly and the location of the hotel is good seem it is very central but that is the only good thing about the hotel.

Next time I visit Singapore I will pay the extra to stay in a better hotel seem I was very uncomfortable throughout my whole stay.

Greetings from the Hotel Grand Pacific!! Thank you for your feedback and your kind compliments on the service levels of our team.

You will be glad to know that since December 2013, during your last stay with us, we have upgraded the general outlook and ambience of the hotel. We embarked on this in stages, firstly upgrading the facilities in the deluxe rooms, refurbishing our gym area with new equipment and of course upgrading our breakfast offerings.

Our newly appointed Executive Chef and his culinary team ensure that we have a wide variety of international breakfast buffet offering daily.

Our beds are in line with hospitality standards, nevertheless we do have bed toppers on request should you prefer a more softer feel and this can be requested from anyone of our service professionals. We regret that that we were unable to obtain feedback from you during your stay with us, as we would definitely have made efforts to address them promptly.

Do let us know should you decide on giving us another opportunity to serve you as I would personally like to take care of your reservations, in this respect, I can be contacted at kevin.singh@hotelgrandpacific.com.sg.

Breakfast was great, location is good near two MRT stations and the rooms are big in Singapore terms! Clean and nice hotel with nice staff. It was weird though that they came to breakfast table 10 minutes before the breakfast was closing to remind the customers there's only 10 minutes left! The biggest con was that the bed was extremely hard, like sleeping on a concrete floor!

Overall good value for the money!

Room Tip: The breakfast is very expensive when not included in the room, so you should also make it included o...

Greetings from the Hotel Grand Pacific Singapore!! Thank you for your kind compliments on our service professionals.

Our team at our restaurant have been trained to offer the added service to our guest to inform them 10 minutes before the closure of the buffet. This is solely to ensure that should our guest like to go back for seconds or thirds, as most of our guest do, they have sufficient time before the closure of the buffet. I am absolutely delighted to hear that the team is putting to practice the service skills they are being continuously trained for.

Albeit, I understand in this instance it almost seemed that this particular staff had given the impression of rushing you through your meal. For this, we would like to apologise and assure you that a refresher training has immediately been put in place for the team so our valued guest do not get the wrong impression.

Our beds in the hotel are generally in line with hospitality standards nevertheless, should our guest prefer a certain preference to be more comfortable, our housekeeping team do have the necessary bed toppers to fulfil these request. You can contact anyone of our service professionals for this. One of our top priority has always been that our guest gets a comfortable night's sleep.

Thank you for your feedback and it is feedback like these that assist us in our pursuit for excellence. We look forward to serving you again soon

My family stayed for 2 separate periods in mid-July. On the first night we were allocated to 6th floor. The rooms were old and felt like 1980's. We checked in again 2 days later and were allocated to 16th floor. It was like heaven compared with the first night. The rooms were brighter and neater. Yet the twin beds were narrower, around 2.5 feet in width.
The food in buffet breakfast was average stuff - fruits, salad, sausages, eggs, bread, congee, cereal... what you can find in anywhere else.
The staff were polite and kind, just that the room cleaners were too efficient that we were surprised to see our room entered and cleaned after breakfast, before we have the chance to lock our suitcases!

I spent a few nights here recently and found the hotel pretty average. The location was good, near to Chimes and Raffles, however the room was uninspiring decor-wise with a strange internal window between my room and the outside world and the food wasn't great. The door staff and concierges were probably my highlight as they were polite, friendly and helpful and aided me in getting taxis around the city.
