“Fab short break”

My friend and I stopped off for 3 days in Singapore on our way to Australia and the travel agent had recommended this hotel to us, it was perfect. Right next door to Raffles Hotel, across the road from Raffles City shopping Centre and foodie centre and easy to get everywhere in taxis, which were surprisingly NOT expensive. The foyer at the hotel was an oasis of calm, the staff were really helpful, especially when I was struggling to get internet connection on my iPad. The rooms were huge and the beds sooooooo comfortable. We arrived early but they still got us fixed up with a room and on the day we left looked after our luggage and let us use the pool showers to change and clean up before we left. I would never want to stay at any other hotel there, have to say it was faultless :)

Room Tip: I would be surprised if there was any such thing as a bad room here, but we did stay quite high up...

Very conveniently, located at the intersection of Orchard Road and the city's business district, the Carlton is a modern, clean, friendly, option. I've stayed here probably 50 times since 2007, during which time the place has gone from good to better. The new wing in particular is very nice, and pretty good value, given that rooms at it's more famous neighbor (Raffle's Hotel, right across the street) go for upwards of $700. A great stay for business or pleasure, the Carlton is also very conveniently located if you are attending the F1 (when rom rates will rise greatly, of course).

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the new wing, overlooking the Raffles Hotel.

Stayed here for a week in July for work. New wing is very nice much better than the old set up which I stayed in years ago. I must agree with most reviewers that the front desk staff can use a lot of custmoer service training - would it really be that hard to show some genuine warmth and happiness when you greet and deal with guests. The bell hop and baggage handlers are able to do it when one arrives, why cant the front desk staff be expected to do the same?

Overall the room at the new wing was great, the breakfast was ok not great not bad, after a week of the same selection though it does get tiring. Nice enough place for a work stay (was next to our office) more geared for business travelers.

Room Tip: Only the rooms at the new wing are worth the stay

I've stayed in the Old Carlton some 5 years + ago , now fully renovated its completely different
I take a room in the new wing (recommanded) with astonishing view on raffles city
New rooms - Premier Room are modern style, with excellent bedding , bathroom communicating by a large window (make it exotic) with the room nd looking toward the large window for outside view
A few place in 1 min walk to take breakfast if you have time for that as in the back of the Singapore art museum

Room Tip: Ask for rooms in the new wing called "Premier Wing"

I went for a Stayacation. Basically, this hotel has poor service.

1. The people who answer the phone are basically not polite and lacks customer service. Curt in response and lacks courtesy. Asked for shower gel and had to call 3 times & 45 mins later before it arrive.

2. Reception counter for check in is poorly man. Encountered rude service from the front desk guy Alex. Only 2 person were attending when the queue was long at usual check in peak hours.

3. Swimming pool is under renovation.

4. Access key didn't work towards the late afternoon. Asked the counter for assistance and was directed to queue to fix something simple and their fault.

5. Overall, deserves a poor rating. If you are a tourist, this is probably okay for the money paid. If you are looking for a stayacation, I suggest you check out Hotel Intercon instead.

Everything you would have expected from a hotel in this class... nice rooms, good breakfast and great location. Only thing missing is the internet in the rooms... I don't get it that access is available for free at the lobby and not in the rooms. I've stayed at other hotels in this city where internet is free in the rooms. Expect the lobby with people surfing the net. Aside from this issue, location was great as a mall and transport via the subway is just across the street.

I stayed at Carlton for 2 nights. The room size is spacious and the location is great. However, the housekeeping needs to improve. I found some hairs in the bathroom and tissue box is empty. So sad that the swimming pool is closed as they are currently under renovation.
