“So good I'm going back.”
Reviewed 1 June 2014

We stayed in Naumi Liora on a one night stopover in Singapore. Our main criterion was a comfortable boutique hotel in or near Chinatown. The only room available was a Quaint without a window, and though very small it was very comfortable for a quick stop that we would spend out and about, with all modern conveniences fitted in well. The staff were welcoming and helpful. The location was perfect for our quick visit as we wanted to be near Chinatown, but it's easy to get to other places of interest too.
I'll be visiting Singapore this month for a couple of days stopover, taking advantage of the hotel's 3 nights for 2 deal so I can go straight from an early flight arrival to check in, and I had no hesitation in choosing Naumi Liora again for its location, boutique quirkiness, comfort and value.

Staff was really good, very helpful especially Maria , she really helped us out with our planing and different places to visit within our limited stay there.

Rooms are a bit small, but how much really do we stay in hotels :)

Pretty economical i would say the rents , breakfast was pretty good. Only thing i would say hotel can improve is there location map. Had a real tough time finding the hotel. They should mention the Outram MRT as the nearest MRT station.

Overall a pretty good experince, enjoyed my stay.

Naumi Liora is a boutique hotel so don't expect 5-star services and amenities. However, staffs are welcoming and friendly and the stay is comfortable with the basic necessities.
It is located along Keong Siak road; in Chinatown so it is very convenient as shops, eateries, pubs, and the MRT are close by.

We booked the Heritage room but was upgraded to the Porch room. Porch room comes with the outdoor balcony in which we didn't utilize as the chairs and table were wet from the morning downpour. The queen sized bed is heavenly for a good night's sleep. Nespresso machine with complimentary 3 coffee capsules in the room. There were limited channels on tv though. The bathroom is huge with rainshower facility. What I don't understand is that the shower and the toilet area is separated by half a panel of glass wall so when one takes a shower, the water seeps out onto the toilet area, making the whole area wet. Perhaps they could look into installing a glass sliding door?

There are snacks and hot beverages available free in the lobby all day. There is also a small gym located on the first level.

Dear Krimie,

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay at Naumi Liora. Naumi Liora is a 4-star modern heritage boutique hotel housed in an artfully restored townhouse in Chinatown. Chinatown is indeed a vibrant neighbourhood with plenty of things to see and do. I am so sorry to hear you didn't get to enjoy the outdoor area because of the morning downpour. The next time you stay with us, be sure to alert our staff and they will definitely do their best to dry up the area for you. We are glad you've had a pleasant stay overall, and we hope to see you again soon.

Now matter what I tried the AC room temp is not going below 26C according to thermometer. The fan blows very slow, according to the front desk this is it!

The shower is too low and has hardly any pressure and the temp is medium. There is no exhaust or window in the shower. There faucet at the sink has no pressure. There was mold in the bathroom on the white kit, very unhygienic. The floor in the room was not cleaned; hair and dust all around, the carpet was dirty and full with stains.

Will not return.

Dear Gotcha4444,

Thank you for taking the time to write us a feedback. We are terribly sorry to learn about your experience and disappointment. An air-conditioner unable to go beyond 26 degree celsius is definitely new to us, and this will be communicated to our management immediately for rectification works. The service lapses you have experienced in terms of housekeeping will also be addressed to ensure there will be no similar occurrences in the future. We hope your recent stay has not marred your opinion of the brand, and we hope to have the opportunity to be of service to you again.

I stayed at Naumi Liora for 5 nights on a business trip. The hotel is in a great location, with many restaurants and bars in the area. A visit to the Tailor next to the restaurant "The Study" is a must! The room I had was incredibly small, but the bed was comfy and pillows were good. The staff at the Naumi Liora are excellent. I would happily stay at the hotel again!

Unlike a lot of other hotels that are struggling to provide decent service in Singapore (thanks mostly to recent immigration reform), this cute little hotel has great service and warm staff, but is lacking in space and other details that really matter.

The GOOD: The welcome and the warmth of the staff, the cuteness of the hotel, and the amazing location (close to MRT and city center, lots of late night eateries, walking distance to Chinatown), the little "freebies" including chips, cookies, ice cream, and skittles that greet you at the entrance, and complimentary wifi.

The BAD: The place is TOO small (especially for the exhorbitant price), and cluttered with things. The beds are hit or miss (some of the Queens actually look like full-size beds); and the interior design is NOT very intuitive. For example, power sockets are hard to find, don't necessarily work properly, and very few in number. Consequently, if you want to have a cup of tea, or use the fancy coffee machine, or iron your clothes or charge your phone or computer, you can do only one thing at a time. This can naturally be frustrating, particularly after a tiring journey. Windows are either non-existent OR glued shut, so natural ventilation is impossible.

There's generally VERY little counter or storage space (the small little tables they have can hold only one or two small items like a wallet, and watch, but everything needs to be distributed around the room), and the wall space is NOT maximized for storage. Even with one of the better rooms in the hotel, I was stumbling over things constantly because there simply wasn't enough storage room for our luggage or to unpack even our carry-ons. Dresses or coats couldn't be hung because the "closet" was almost non existent. The bathroom lacked ventilation, and there were no hooks or shelves to either hang my change of clothes or dry my wet things. Not even for wet towels.

Plush bathrobes and slippers are provided, when you call. But there is no place to put them, hang them or dry them.

Of course, we had the unfortunate issue of finding our hot water connection broken, and no coffee machine provided. It took them some time to find us a solution (we had to shower in another room, and go downstairs to get ourselves coffee). But they made up for it by upgrading us to another room for the night...which we greatly appreciated.

In all, for the rates, I think its quite a bit overrated, but I still loved the hotel ambience, the location, and the sweetness of the staff. Not sure I would invest to stay here again. Might try one of the other cute hotels in the area that they front...

Room Tip: Choose a Heritage room or better, its simply TOO small otherwise; ask for the back of the hotel. Tak...

Dear pragzz,

Thank you for choosing Naumi Liora and taking the time to share your experience with us. We are delighted to hear you have found so many aspects of our hotel attractive. Your kind words will only motivate us to do even better.

Please accept our sincere apologies for your misses. Naumi Liora is located in an area bestowed conservation status so we had to work around a lot of building constraints. We can understand why it was slightly frustrating when you couldn't find enough power sockets. Our Liora Aides would have been able to help ease this frustration if they had been alerted of the situation then. Do not hesitate to approach them in the future if you require any form of assistance. I also wanted you to know that we do have bigger rooms with adequate space to place your items. Please feel free to reach out to us prior to your next visit to arrange these options.

Despite the slight inconveniences, we hope your recent stay has not marred your opinion of the brand, and we hope to have the opportunity to be of service to you again.

Best,
Janice Tan

i ADORE naumi liora, it is a real jewel. the location is superb, on a picturesque street with a verandah type sidewalk that is reminiscent of old singapore. many fun bars and restaurants are just steps away. great hawker centers, malls, chinatown's food street, MRT, buses are a few blocks walk.

the best thing about the hotel is the service. the team is intelligent, stylish, elegant, charming, and very helpful. they make a very professional effort to make the guests feel special and welcome.

in particular, team member Liz repeatedly and thoughtfully tried to find out how my stay can be improved. Liz and her great colleagues, which i unfortunately cant all name, immediately took care of certain in-room preferences that i had, which other hotels could find a bit demanding, but they did whatever they could to make sure i was comfortable. for the very good price, i dont think it's possible to be this well taken care of and this comfortable anywhere else in singapore to my knowledge. remember, hotels in sg are quite expensive.

some guests feel that some rooms are small and are too close to street traffic and sounds. there are different sized rooms, but the introductory rooms are indeed a bit small but brilliantly designed and appointed such that you dont feel the size. i am 188 cm tall and although the room doesn't feel huge, it is actually very cozy and feels great to be here. and i am spending about 2-3 weeks here. certain rooms in the hotel are not for those expecting palatial large rooms, or those traveling as a couple, or those who wish to be 100% insulated from the (light) sounds of the neighborhood, so please adjust expectations based on the type of boutique hotel this is. to have the singapore experience in chinatown requires interacting with the neighborhood, and letting it seep in. that’s part of the charm of being here.

it is beautifully decorated, there are great nostalgic touches such as old wooden doors and wooden floors. the free wifi internet is very fast. everyone of course likes the goodies and ice cream in the lobby.

the team has essentially guaranteed, with their stellar service, that i will always look to book here at naumi liora when i come to singapore. the hotel should be very proud of their team. thank you all.

Dear skyworld999,

Thank you for your amazing review! We have had a great time reading it. You are so right about the type of boutique hotel we are. It is all about letting the heritage in Chinatown seep in and be a part of your experience here with us; an experience you would not find in mainstream hotel chains. We are definitely very proud of our team and your kind words will spur us on to do even better! We can't wait to be of service to you again soon.
