“good place to stay 1 or 2 night”
Reviewed 7 August 2014

We stayed 1 night , we just walk in and get the double room for 120 SGD .
(+) Hotel located in very short distance from MRT Farrer Park exit G.
(+) Price for the room include buffet breakfast on the basement room , quite good with rice, bread, cereal, cake, etc for your energy in the morning.
(+) Free wifi available , reception officer will give the password.
(+) Room is compact , with hot water maker , fridge .
(+) Short walking to 24h Mustafa Center
(-) Hotel is old and smell of smoking in the room .
(-) Do not hope greetings and smile from the reception officer whenever you come and go through the front door .
(-) The color of the room is dark not bright .
Overall , still good place to sleep for 1 or 2 nights in the 1 of the most expensive city in the world.

We booked this hotel for 3 nights and checked-in on 12 July 2014. The lady at the reception was not interested to even talk to us as we checked-in early morning at 7am. She handed over a room key to us so that we could go to the room with our luggage (don't expect they will carry your luggage). We reached the room no.412 and found that the room was not cleaned after the previous occupant left. There was a cup of coffee left on the table. We went back to the reception and informed the staff the room is not clean. She just took back the key and gave us another room key and asked us to check the room 308. That room was okay but the shower in the bathroom was missing (yes, you heard me right - missing). So, we went back to reception again and asked for another room. She gave us another room key for us to check. This room (no.609) was okay and we thought we should not waste more time on checking the whole building for a better room as it was clear that all the rooms are more or less of the same quality. The room was small and the bedsheet and pillow covers dirty. There was no chair in the room. We went to the reception to check if they could change the bedsheet and provide us a chair. Now, there was another lady at the reception who was even worse than the previous one (this lady reminded me of some of the toughest immigration officers at some of the airports!). She promptly denied to provide us a new bedsheet as the house keeping will change the bedsheets only tomorrow!! I asked about the chair and she said they don't provide chairs in rooms. I said I saw chairs in both the previous rooms I checked. She said she had no idea where those chairs came from!! Wow!! that's the kind of service a hotel should provide in a country like Singapore which is famous for its service quality (I have lived in Singapore for 8 years and I know what I'm talking about). I have no idea whether the hotel management has trained their staff to behave like this to its customers or whether the staff has developed this super customer service skill on their own. Even the house keeping lady knocked on the door on the last day of our stay and growled "are you leaving now or not". Anyway, here are some points to note for the tourists and travelers who might consider staying in this hotel: 1. Don't expect any decent behaviour (not even a smile or greeting) from the reception staff. Rather than serving you, they have better things to do like texting or playing on their mobile phones. 2. On the last day of our stay I found at least 12-15 insects (I believe they were tiny cockroaches) in the bathroom. They were walking all over the walls of the bathroom. I found one on the kettle too. 3. I could not watch any TV channels as the channel signals were disrupted most of the time. 4. The aircon in the room was too cold and the controls to increase the temperature did not work. Most of the time we had to switch it off (we did not even bother to tell about this to the staff as we knew how their reaction would be). The final question anybody would love to ask: Would I recommend this hotel to anybody? No, for heaven's sake NO. Not even to my enemies!!

Room Tip: Stay away from this hotel. That's the only tip I could come up after thinking for 10 minutes.

Few quick facts:

• Stayed in a family room (801) for 3 nights with my wife and parents @ 190SGD per night with Breakfast.
• All Hop on and Hop Off buses, Safari Gate buses have pickup and drop right opposite this hotel.
• Farrer park MRT is 150 mtrs walk.
• Taxi stand is right opposite this hotel.
• Serangoon Plaza and Mustaffa (24hrs open) is right opposite this hotel.
• Plenty of Indian hotels around the hotel.
• You will mostly find Indians and Malaysians in this hotel.
• You can dump your luggage in the Luggage room before and after your check-in checkout time and go for sight seeing.
• Breakfast is OK.
• $10 refundable deposit for Iron Box.
• Rooms are bright and have full length wall-to-wall windows

The best part of our stay was that our room had a massage chair and all four of us used it everyday without fail. (The leg function was not working but I cannot complain about that as the massage chair was not part of hotel amenities)

Tip to the Hotel Management: I noticed that Sambar is part of breakfast everyday. I am a south Indian and I can say that if you get your Sambar right everything will fall in place and people will stop complaining about breakfast. Also, Indians eat fried rice and chapati with Kurma/Curry not Sambar. So prepare Sambar only when you have Idli and Idiyappam in your menu.

Room Tip: Room number 801 (family room) had a massage chair during our stay.

This is located in the heart of Little India...and very nearby to some Bangladeshi restaurant which was important for my wife as we traveled to Singapore direct from Langkawi and she was getting crazy to have some Bangladeshi food.We are a family of 3 with our son aged 4 and stayed for 3 nights. The room is small but clean,Toilet door has no lock and breakfast is quite ok and the receptionists were not so friendly.I didn't mind with all this as this is purely a budget hotel and in our short visit to Singapore we stayed out whole day and returned to the hotel only at night to sleep.

Do not expect much, but the rooms are clean undoubtedly the breakfast is good atleast can stuff up your stomach for half a day.

if you walk in as a normal client you may find the rooms tariff between S$168 - S$208, you rather go online and buy but it from there, where you can get the same room from S$100 - 120 per room per night.

Receptionist is not friendly at all.

Room Tip: Good option for budget travellers, ask for a better rate at reception or book this room through othe...
