You can get a better hotel for the money you pay here. We got a 2 bedroom apt. It was quite spacious with many amenities such as a kitchen. If these are essential, then go for this. Else, find a real hotel. We could have booked two rooms in Marina Sands for what we paid at this place. It is conveniently located for the nightlife but need to take a cab or subway to get to the city. I booked directly through the ascot website and they gave a lowest price guarantee. Forget about trying to make a case with Somerset. I don't remember how many emails I exchanged, and they would keep giving a. million reasons why their price is the lowest. I had screen prints to prove that they were not the lowest but they would not accept it. Finally, I gave up as it was not worth the hassle. The balcony doors and windows are locked and all one can do is look through the windows. No elegance here!

Dear hkustrg,

Thank you for your valuable feedback. I truly regret to learn that you did not enjoy your stay at our serviced residence and have found our fully equipped kitchen inessential for your recent holiday in Singapore. Understandably, a stay in a serviced residence may not appeal to everyone as the stay experience at serviced residences is more inclined to a home-away-from home experience whereby families are able to be accommodated in the same apartment unit with the convenience of a full equipped kitchen and facilities.

With regards to the locked balcony doors, please allow me to clarify that these doors are locked by default as safety and security of our residents is a primary concern. However, our Security team would be most pleased to assist to unlock the balcony door upon the request from our residents. I am sincerely sorry that this information was not well communicated to you.

We sincerely thank you for staying with us at Somerset Liang Court Singapore. It has been a pleasure hosting your stay and we sincerely hope to host you again, should you find a stay at serviced residence more appropriate for your travel needs in the future.

Best regards,
Cynthia Lim

We stayed at the somerset liang court for 9 days.2 adults and 2 kids in a 2 bedroom premier apartment. The space was great with the kids and made for a relaxing holiday. We just loved it and wished we could stay for more weeks. The location is great above a shopping centre with mcdonalds, subway, 7 11 and a Japanese supermarket. We arrived about 7.30pm and went down to get some groceries which was no problem. We are linked to novotel next door which you access with your key and the pool is lovely. The apartment staff were wonderful and friendly helping us with taxi's, recommendations for restaurants and directions to sights. They greeted us every time we came down to reception and were very friendly and approachable. Our son accidently locked himself in one of the bedrooms and the staff were up in a flash to unlock it and were very kind. The lady who cleaned our room daily was wonderful. The location is great with mrt Clarke quay very close and lots of restaurants and shops close. The apartment had free wi fi which was great. We have already recommended this apartment to our friends and when we come back to Singapore we plan to stay here again. We feel we cannot go back to staying in a hotel again after this great experience in an apartment complex.

We recently stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment for a week as a couple wth 2 teenagers. We were very happy with the front desk service throughout our stay, which had a hotel feeling even though these are self-contained apartments. We were impressed to find a personalised note and some complimentary welcome goodies on our dining table, including biscuits, Pringles, soy milk, tea & coffee sachets and two large bottles of Fiji water (after this we received 4 small bottles of water per day). There is great attention to detail in the rooms in terms of what is provided, and there is a washer/dryer (all in one) in the small kitchen with a small box of washing powder - and detailed instructions, thankfully. The kitchen has a toaster, kettle (very clean!), cutlery, crockery, pots and pans, even a rice cooker! And our kids were impressed with speed of the wifi, always a bonus.

The ensuite bathroom is a little small and dated, with the shower-in-bath with shower curtain a bit claustrophobic, but the main bathroom had a huge shower (about 4 feet square!) with a modern glass screen and large door. The liquid soaps in the bathrooms had fragrant organic oils - lemon at the basin and orange in the shower (2 in 1 soap & shampoo) and these were very nice. There were 2 balconies in our 24th floor apartment, one off the living area and one off the main bedroom, but both sliding doors were keylocked with a small sign saying there were to remain so (for safety I assume). This was no problem really, we still had a view to the river and Riverside Point (an easy walk across the river from here to visit Brewerkz and Cafe Iguana, among others, or you can catch a bumboat further up the river). We found it very quiet as our room was away from the lifts and of course almost no noise from the street/river so far up. The rooms facing the main road (1, 2 or 3 on any floor) or those lower down might be a bit noisier. They are just starting to build a new MRT station across the main road (River Valley Rd) so this might create some noise there but we did not hear it from 2408 (facing the river).

The apartment was well priced for Singapore, given the cost for 2 hotel rooms. The breakfast is stated as 'continental' but it is really 'continental plus' since in addition to 3 kinds of cereal and the usual toast, pastries and fruit, plus tea/coffee and juices, there was a choice of a few cooked dishes, different each day. These included boiled or scrambed eggs, baked beans, pancakes, potato, sausage & bacon; sometimes Asian style choices too with noodles etc. It was very adequate! (Some of the chairs are getting a bit uncomfy/worn but if you choose your section wisely, you can find a cushy seat! Always enough room.)

We did not use the pool (shared with Novotel next door) but it was a nice area and very large, though not much shade. The Liang Court shopping centre adjoining was very handy...the kids of course were pleased to find Western places like Maccas, Subway and Starbucks, but there are a lot of Japanese and Ramen restaurants here - very good and not too pricey - along with a supermarket and some interesting little shops. There is a taxi stand just at the front of the shopping centre, so that was never an issue, and taxis are plentiful and very affordable! There was also good security with the fact you need to scan your door entry card in the lift in order to go up from the lobby, or down to any floor other than the lobby.

P.S. Ask at the front desk for a power adaptor if you need one.

Room Tip: Rooms facing the river or Novotel will be quieter than those facing Clemenencau Ave or River Valley...

We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment for a 2 week holiday with our 2 boys - having an apartment as opposed to 2 adjoining motel rooms gave us lots of extra space and having a kitchen and laundry facilities within the unit was an added bonus. The apartment block is conveniently located next to Clarke Key and if you're keen you can literally walk wherever you like (if not it's a 5 min walk to MRT station). The pool area (shared with the Novotel) was great, pool was large and plenty of shaded areas. The staff were always helpful and courteous. While some people have criticised the breakfast we found this more than adequate .... we'd definitely stay here again if we ever visit Singapore again.

Room Tip: Rooms ending in 01 are next to the elevator shafts - this is a little noisy, but when the A/C was ru...

Dear Turnerpd,

Thank you for taking time to write this delightful review. The team at Somerset Liang Court is elated to note that your family and you have enjoyed your 2 weeks’ stay with us and you have found our fully equipped 2-bedroom apartment as the perfect accommodation choice during your recent holiday. As you have already discovered, there are indeed many positive aspects to staying in a serviced residence over a hotel as serviced apartments are generally more spacious; ideal for family bonding after a day out visiting our sunny island, yet according privacy when needed.

Your kind compliments for our team is sincerely appreciated and please be assured that your compliments will be shared with them. It has been a great pleasure being of service to you and your family and we truly look forward to welcoming you back if you ever visit Singapore again.

We arrived with our two children in the morning at 11 am after traveling overseas. We were told by the lobby lady that we had to wait until 3 PM because all rooms are fully booked and the previous guest in our room hadn’t checked out yet.

I didn’t believe this because I just checked online and there was only a 30% occupancy! After I got angry, our rooms were ready in about 15 minutes. It is not a good service that staff lied about the occupancy. We needed to bring our own suitcases up. Rooms are very old and musty. Furnishing is outdated and it was extremely overpriced!

Dear BuleJakarta,

Greetings! We are sincerely sorry that you did not enjoy your stay with us at Somerset Liang Court Singapore.

It is indeed regrettable that we have not been successful in convincing you in our past correspondence that our Guest Service team member did not lie to you about the full house occupancy situation. Please be assured that our teams did their utmost best to try to accord you a complimentary early check-in when you arrived at 1100hr. Fortunately, as we had explained, a guest with the same apartment type as you had reservations for, had checked out shortly after your arrival, thus allowing our team to turn over this apartment for your check-in at 1140hr, despite our stipulated 1500hr check-in time. We humbly admit that our team could have communicated better and advised you of their action plans, instead of misleading you to believe that we had lied about our occupancy situation and relenting only when you lost your temper. We are sincerely sorry for this shortfall and have counselled our teams on their communication skills.

As discussed previously, we are deeply concerned that you were able to obtain such private and important data on our property's live and daily occupancy situation on a public website, as such data is always kept in secrecy and privy to the individual property only, in our competitive industry.

In addition, we would also like to clarify that not all of our inventory is listed on any public website as we would offer a percentage of the available apartments for our long-stay corporate residents; hence allowing us to manage our inventory. As explained previously, such sensitive and privileged data such as occupancy rates are not privy on any websites, albeit one may find availability of the different apartment types on a website. The availability data are for future bookings as these would assist potential guests in their decision to book an apartment.

Thank you for your feedback regarding our 2 bedroom apartment. Our teams are presently reviewing how best we may enhance the ambience and comfort of our apartments. We are truly appreciative of your feedback as it allows us to improve and provide the best service, products and facilities for all our residents.

Thank you for staying with us and it is our sincere wish to welcome you back in the future, giving us another opportunity to serve you better.

Best regards,
Cynthia Lim

We have visited this property before and this second visit was a family vacation for my birthday with our two daughters. Its in a great location and is perfect for a relaxed holiday in Singapore with the good facilities. We found having a lovely lounge area to relax, kitchen facilities, free wifi to help with trip planning, washer/dryer, great pool area and ever helpful staff made our trip perfect. I dont know how but they found out it was my birthday during our stay and they delivered a beautiful birthday cake to our door a lovely surprise and very much appreciated. During our entire stay the staff were friendly, professional and helpful and having visited Singapore many times in the last 15 years (and having even lived in an apartment here for a time) I would definitely recommend Somerset Liang to anyone anticipate coming to this great city.

Room Tip: All apartment style so well suited for families of groups travelling together.

We stayed here for 16 nights with 2 kids. The cot we requested was provided and was set up with bedding. The kitchen had everything we needed and shops were close by to get food. Breakfast was average and we ended up making our own most mornings or going to McDonald's that was close by. Pool was great and nice and big so you didn't feel cramped. Staff were helpful and kind. Would stay there again.
