I visit Sichuan Village about once per month as the Sichuan food is excellent and very authentic. This is a casual, family-style restaurant in the middle of Mosque Street. The restaurant scores 10 for food, 3 for service and 1 for interior design (bright light, plastic tables). This means you just come here for the food and not for the environment. They use plenty of Sichuan pepper corns together with dried chili in the cooking.
My favourite dishes include the stir-fried French beans, the spicy cold noodles, the ma po tofu, the tenderloin beef with pepper spice and the gung bao prawns.
They are well stocked with Chinese beers with large bottles of Tsingtao, Harbin and Yanjing going for about SGD 7 per bottle.
All in all, one of my favourite restaurants in Singapore and also very affordable.
