> Somebody took a dump on the common bathroom floor.
> I witnessed a mother and daughter team peeing on the bathroom floor because the toilets were not functioning for hours.
I guess that sums up my experience at the disgusting 5footway.inn Project Boat Quay. To be fair, this was my first hostel experience and I'm not at all familiar with sharing etiquette. However, I think it is human decency and common sense not to do your business on the floor - regardless if it's a common bathroom or not. Plus, disgusting excrements aside, the bathroom was filthy to begin with.
My partner and I were placed in the top bunk of a three-person co-ed sharing dorm. The metal hinges holding the steel ladder was broken and had a sharp protrusion - HIGHLY HAZARDOUS - which tore our jeans/ pants/ shorts/ skin while we were climbing down. Also, despite being entitled to two lockers on the bottom floor (each numbered bed comes with a numbered locker), we were told to to share one. As there was only one staff mending the counter, with a gazillion other guests, check in and check out took up most of my holiday in Singapore.
But of course there are some good points about staying at this hostel. The location is pretty decent and not too far from an MRT station. Plus, the cafe next door serves the best burgers I've ever tasted (not the cakes. The cakes are vile). Being so close to an MRT station, I could nip out whenever the place was driving me crazy. However, I believe you can definitely find better accomodation with the sort of money you're paying. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy.
