“Singapore's take on Sardinian food”
Reviewed 25 April 2014 via mobile

The atmosphere here is unusual - a slightly Art Deco feel with Italian touches makes it a bit like stepping on to the set of a gangster film. The menu is basically Italian with some Sardinian highlights, such as 'culurgiones' which are potato and mint-filled pasta dumplings. They're interesting but a bit heavy for the climate. It helps to make a booking, lest you walk in and find yourself at a table near the pizza oven. If you want to be that warm while you eat, you may as well sit outside. All the plates of food looked very good and the tortellini in brodo was excellent. Reasonable Italian food close to Orchard Road.

“Hidden little gem at Orchard road”
Reviewed 17 April 2014

Heard about this restaurant from a local friend. Always a preference for Italian food, we decided to give it a try. Its situated within the pan pacific hotel at orchard road. Easy parking but we had to ask the concierge where is the restaurant as its not in the main lobby area but at the back , facing Orchard tower. When we arrived , we were much impressed by the beautiful decor of the restaurant. Intricate tiled floors, as well as antiques adorned the place. There is even an antique postal stand which is used as a service station ! The atmosphere is classy and elegant with a contemporary feel. We had frigola , beef as well as burrata and carpaccio. The main courses were lovely. Really enjoyed the rich flavour of way the frigola was done. The beef was also well seasoned and cooked perfectly. The staff was attentive and helpful. The food was good. Lovely atmosphere. Beautiful restaurant. Will come back again.

“Impressive design and attention to detail”
Reviewed 2 March 2014 via mobile

Just the mere sight of this place tells you how far the culinary scene in Singapore has come. With so many establishments sprouting up over the last few years, every new joint seems to have to find a way to one up their competition.

Sopra is an impressive place. The design is stunning with an attention to detail you'd not expect of Singapore. Immediately upon entering you'd be forgiven for thinking you were in a new trendy restaurant in New York or London.

The menu is an interesting update on Sardinian cuisine. The beef carpaccio is as to be expected. No surprises there but the melanzane is one of the better examples in Singapore.

Look out of the long list of pizzas on the second flip of the menu. One page is dedicated to what they term as "Premium Pizzas" with such exotic toppings as salmon eggs and caviar. We went for the Mad Cow, with wagyu beef, buffalo mozzarella and get this, French fries. It was pleasant enough but not worthy of the $57 asking price, which is a pity. It really masks what should be a great dish. I say stick to the normal pizzas and you'll be both satisfied with what you're paying and also what is one of the better thin crusts in town.

Service was polite and knowldgeable but nothing exceptional to report. Not sure what some other reviewers noticed but the staff here was well groomed and it appeared to be very professionally run.

Will definitely be making repeated visits here to entertain guests as it's jus a beautiful place.

“Sad to see.....”
Reviewed 19 February 2014 via mobile

After a good start with Italian management there is not much left. The staff don't have a clue, there is no soul and no management. The best table is occupied for admin, the staff is drinking at the bar. Even if the food was good.........you still don't wanna be here and pay the high prices for food and drinks. A pity and a shame.
