My husband and I travelled to Singapore with my parents for a week in April 2012 and chose a 2 bedroom apartment so that we could all stay together. We were not disappointed. The apartment was larger than we were expecting and the 2 bathrooms meant that we each had some privacy but still the convenience of staying together. The cost was also cheaper than 2 hotel rooms and we had the added benefit of the separate kitchen and lounge-room.
The free wi-fi was reliable and quite fast. You could have more than one device connected at the same time with no noticeable difference to connection or speed, which we have experienced at other places.
The location was excellent, within easy walking distance of 2 MRT stations, although as others have said the construction and blocked off street meant that our taxi driver had some difficulty finding the property to drop us off. The noise from the construction didn’t bother us though – and we did have a room on the street side next to the construction. The noise was noticeable in the hallways but once in our apartment it could still be heard but certainly wasn’t intrusive and didn’t interrupt our sleep or enjoyment of the apartment. Those who are sensitive to noise may think differently.
The rooftop pool was excellent – very clean, well maintained and not particularly busy. We regularly went up in the afternoon after our day out and often had the pool to ourselves.
We had a late flight at the end of our stay and the staff happily offered us a late checkout, storage of our bags (including keeping our drinks cold in the fridge) and use of the pool and shower facilities until we were ready to leave.
The included breakfast was more than adequate and offered much more variety than we expected. Each morning there was a selection of breads and pastries, cereals, hard boiled eggs, fresh fruit and salad. There were also at least 3 - 4 hot dishes that changed daily. Selections during our stay included a soup, baked beans/chickpeas, egg rolls, sausages and grilled ham. There is also a coffee machine so you can get your fresh caffeine fix in the morning. The staff in the kitchen at breakfast were very friendly and efficient and always busy replenishing the buffet. We stayed over the Easter period and on Easter Sunday we were each given a small basket of eggs –small hard-boiled quail eggs and also some chocolate ones. It was a very nice touch.
There are many good places to eat within a short walking distance. We particularly liked the two Thai restaurants in the next block further down Bencoolen Street. One is called Thai Gold Food and is on Bencoolen Street just past the Prinsep Link Road intersection, next to the bus stop. The green curry was fantastic, but you have to like it hot.
We would certainly stay here again.
