“Hi Tea”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 June 2014

Great place for hi tea. Like the soft and pillowy scones, which is served with 5 different jams and butter. The loaf cakes are very nice too, especially the pineapple upside down cake.

“Let down.”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 April 2014

Booked 2 days in advance with a Groupon voucher for 7pm dinner, riverside table. No problem. We were running late so phoned at 6pm same day to ask if we could push the table back to 745pm. No problem. We arrived for 745pm. Waited a few minutes on the street, noone acknowledged us so we sat ourselves down at an empty table in the entrance area (all riverside tables were occupied). We were subsequently greeted, but they had no record of either of our previous telephone calls/bookings. Even the call from less than 2 hours previously. Bizarre. We moved to a riverside table once some diners departed and placed our order. The waiter warned us, and the menu does also specify, that we may have a wait of 20-30 minutes. But it was just over an hour later before we were even brought our soft drinks! And told the food would be another 20 mins or more. They hadn't even started cooking it! You just get past it, we said cancel it, we'd just finish the soft drinks that we were by this time desperate for.... I star given because the waiter told us we could have those complimentary. Hardly sufficient but at least an acknowledgement of our unsatisfactory experience. We then had to retrieve our unspent groupon voucher. They couldn't offer a refund for it but couldn't be sure whether or not they had registered the voucher already (rendering it useless another time)! We were staying at the nearby Fullerton Hotel, returned there at gone 930pm, bought some pastries in the lobby and ate them on our balcony, helped down with a bottle of wine.

We live in Singapore and as we still have unused Groupons we will return to Madame Patisserie and trust we don't have an issue having the returned voucher accepted. We just have to hope this was not business as usual. If we'd just been told at the outset that they couldn't cope with the (very straightforward) orders we would not feel so aggrieved. Regardless, to ensure a balanced opinion we will post again once we have revisited and hope we will be able to report more positively.

Nice decor. Good selection of home-made cakes. Transparent process thru kitchen in the back so you can see what's happening. Very helpful staff that takes pride in their role.

“Wholesome foods made from the heart”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 January 2014 via mobile

The first time I tried the food from Madame Patisserie was during their official opening of the bar and bistro at Mackenzie Road in November. It was also then that I had to speak with Sherie who co-owns the joint with her brother. She spoke with interest on how she introduce certain ingredients to her foods to give them that extra flavor. It was enjoyable listening to her speak with passion about what she does best, baking and cooking.
As an introduction, Sherie did vocational training at SHATEC and from there went on to work in Ritz Carlton, working up her way to management level chef.
My friends and I arranged for a post Christmas dinner at the Boat Quay outlet and Sherie whipped up some special dishes for us. The turkey bacon rolls and aglio olio were superb. As usual, Sherie would come out once in a while to share cooking tips with us, like making corn tasty by cooking with milk. The evening ended on a sweet note with a nice warm chocolate cake.
Definitely going to try out the high tea set soon. While you are there, don't missed the signature lychee martini cake, with lychee and raspberries with a hint of martini wrapped in layers of light sponge.

“Unique tea place at Boat Quay”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 10 September 2013

This is a newly opened bakery along Boat Quay. I was fascinated by its beautiful exterior design. They have variety of choices, says croissants, cinnamon buns, cakes... I came here with friend for afternoon tea. We had ordered a lovely tea set with a pot of tea (SGD 32++). This is a really good deal, this set is big enough to be shared by two persons. Pot of tea is refillable.

Price is reasonable, view & location are good, service is nice. This is def. compatible.

I do consider to visit it again :)

Cheers
