“Quiet Quaint Hotel in Little India”
Reviewed 3 July 2014

after searching and searching for days for a Singpore hotel, the Perak Hotel appeared to be the perfect hotel because of location. this was true, since it is located near boundary of Little India and only a 5 minute stroll to Bugis, but even more important, the hotel is located on a quiet street, with little traffic, that is easy to walk(as well as Dunlop Street), where several restaurants are located. 7 Eleven is just around the corner, as well as ATM. A real neighborhood. the hotel is quite quait with beautiful hardwood floors, doors, and trim in both hallways and rooms. the room is small but appointed with flat screen tv, desk/chair, and window with shutters and curtains. comfortable bed, a/c worked well, only 7 channels on tv. wifi in breakfast area and lobby worked well. Ethernet in room worked well also. breakfast is adequate, usually consisting of eggs with vegetable, no meat, good coffee, orange juice, fruit, toast and jelly.$ as you are probably aware, the hotels in Singapore are expensive. I paid $135/a night including taxes(17%). compared to other hotels, I thought the Perak Hotel was a good deal. Loved the LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION and the hotel décor. 4 floors with no elevator. I stayed on 3rd floor and I guess maybe 12 steps for each floor. no elevator was no big deal. Staff was more than helpful. Enjoyed the breakfast area. Smoking area on the veranda in front of hotel provided nice shade and sounds of the neighborhood. Would definitely stay here again!!!

the picture was too good to be true. the hotel was an old building, and at the end of the road. there was an indian guy at the front desk. very rude and don't know how to treat guest properly, not sure if he was raised that way. the only thing that u need to change is your employee or maybe it wasn't my lucky day to met that kind of people.

We stayed 3 nights in this hotel. Room was basic with comfort bed. Whole hotel was old and little bit outdated, but it is not problem, because in Singapore you don't spend time in your hotel room =) Staff was very friendly and they borrowed umbrellas for customers(weather can change quickly..) WiFi was free in public areas, but it worked well also in our room(it was next to public area). Location was perfect and that's why we chose this hotel. Great place at all and cheap!

Room Tip: Ask room near "Public area (breakfast room)" and the WiFi will work also in you room.

The rooms at Perak are very small. We did not even have enough place in our room for our bags. The room was about 2 meter by 2.50 meter. And we had the "superior room".

Staff was not really helpfull.

The hotel is in a small, quiet street in Little India. It is a good base to explore Little India.

I would not advise you to stay at this hotel.

The hotel is located in Little India, 5 min walk from the subway. The hotel is clean. Helpfull staff. The downside is the noise from the neighborhood and streets, and that at 5 in the morning the local mosque started its morning prayer.

Hi, Recently we visited singapore for 3 days stay. we searched for budget and good ambience hotel to stay. Selected this, as it is cost effective and near to Little MRT,Buggies,Ferrara park MRT and many shopping malls.
Although there are some minors perks like the room is small and less comfortable for more than 2 people. Wooden floor on the hotel always alerts you to look around, but this defect was politely agreed by the hotel management. Wifi is only available at bay area(ground floor).
Friendly hotel staff, delicious breakfast, Walk-able distance to 3 MRT stations. One who is looking for budget hotel this is the best one to choose for 3 days of stay.

I stayed for three nights at the Perak Hotel last week (June 2014). It is clean, quiet, not too expensive for Singapore (I paid S$88/day), and the staff is friendly and helpful. Good WiFi signal in the lobby and breakfast area. The real strong point is the location. Little India is, IMO, the best part of Singapore in which to stay for tourists. The area is centrally located (walking distance to the Colonial Quarter), lively, animated at night, with inexpensive restaurants, bars, and 24/7 Internet cafés for those who need them. The hotel is a short walk to the Bugis MRT station (which is on the line to Changi Airport). Checkout is noon; if you have a night flight, no problem leaving your luggage at the hotel. The one relative drawback was the windowless (ground floor) room — though this is apparently common in budget hotels in Singapore. So if you want a window, ask for a room on the upper floors.
