“Cheap does not necessarily mean nasty.”
Reviewed 16 April 2014

As my primary accommodation choice for Singapore no longer has dormitory-style rooms, and the fall-back option was undergoing a renovation, I turned to the guidebooks for advice. The InnCrowd got good reviews, so I tried them out. At SGD20 a night, I was skeptical and, in turn, pleasantly surprised. The ten-bed mixed dorms do not have that often claustrophobic feel to them.

The hostel itself is well maintained and clean. My only gripes are that the aircon in the dorm rooms is switched off between 1100 and 1900, and there are no power points in the dorms- so you're competing with the rest of the hostel to charge up your devices in the common room.

Staff are polite, accommodating and knowledgeable. The free breakfast is a good selling point, even if it is just boiled eggs, toast and jam, tea and coffee. Free food is free food!

Dunlop Street is convenient as a location. Bugis and Little India MRT stations are close, as is the Rochor bus terminus for those coming in from Malaysia. The cornucopia of Indian cuisines is right on your doorstep, and the Prince of Wales pub is in the same street.

We stayed at this hostel for 4 nights and it was great!
First day we went on the free scooter tour and I CANT even tell you how
amazing that was!! The guide was great and showed us all the amazing
attractions during 5-6 hours. Wow what a cool way to experience the city!

Also the hostel in itself is very nice, the dorms and showers are very clean
and the hostel is quiet around 10pm. Great hangout area downstairs with
sofas, cushions, tv, loads of books etc.

Loads of good(mostly Indian) restaurants in the neighborhood and
7/11 next door. Close to the Metro. It was really a great place!

If you have been traveling through the rest of Asia there is no getting around it - Singapore is expensive!

We chose here because it is relatively cheap but mainly it is close to really cheap but amazing Curry around the corner! If you like your curry it is a great place to stay.

Nice staff in the hostel - lots of people around if you are a solo traveller - internet works well- clean - rooms small!

It is located some few corners from a train station, and Bugis Street.

Everything you need as a lone traveler is available. Shared kitchen, wash room and other amenities. You may not have the usual comfort of conventional hotel accommodations, but if you travel alone, and explore the scene all day, all you need is a good location, good shower and fast internet.

The place is basic, not much else to say really. Rooms are small and windowless, the ac can be a joy but also a curse depending on individual body temperatures. The communal bathrooms are smelly, but that's what you get when you have lots if people having number twos in steamy shared facilities. Most travellers keep themselves to themselves, communal area smells like a tattooist. Area is great, just what you expect for something called little India. If you have a tight budget don't come to Singapore and moan just don't come, there are lots of sea countries to visit and get more for you £.

Not a bad hostel- we stayed in Jan 2014.
the hostel was located in Little India which was not very nice. Dirty, noisy part of SIngapore. the streets at night in this location are very busy 90% men who made me (a girl) feel very uncomfortable.

Pros
friendly hostel staff
free breakfast (not too bad eggs and toast)
free wifi
good communal area
discounted tickets to attractions
lockers

cons
location!!
threadbare blankets (though it was warm so didn't really matter)
squeaky beds !!! (if you are staying in a dorm will hear every persons movement)
unisex bathrooms were a little unclean

was happy with our stay but probably wouldn't stay there again due to location

Room Tip: Dorms not that great, privates not too much more plus have own aircon

I stayed here for 4 nights and really loved it. Great chill out area, free breakfast, beers from reception in the eve and lots of people up for chatting. Dorms are basic but felt totally safe the whole time. Tip! Use the second floor showers and loo. HIGHLY recommend the scooter tour! Was worried it wouldn't be great but was amazing and even after 3 days of the city I saw loads of new places I hadn't been! Massive kudos to Hilmi who runs the tour. Very very happy and would recommend to anyone visiting Singapore.
