I stayed there for a couple of days .
Plus points: - cheap, polite staff and decent location, free wifi in common areas only.

negatives:- The sinks and toilet didnt drain properly!!
I watched the WC final there and a guy grabbed another around the neck without any warning. He had to be pulled off. I was surprised to see the aggressor still there next day...I think they are pretty much only interested in money and not making sure that travellers are safe from the loonies.

Your statement that "they are pretty much only interested in money and not making sure that travellers are safe from the loonies" cannot be further from the truth. Please refrain from making baseless allegations without knowing the full facts of what actually happened.

To investigate the matter, we actually spent hours watching cctv footages, interviewing staff and guests who witnessed the incidents (the incident on the night of the World Cup final match stemmed from another incident which took place 3 nights before), and speaking to the 2 guys involved (whom we shall refer to as "A" and "D").

A has stayed continuously at the hostel for about 1 1/2 years now, and D is a seasoned traveller who has returned to the hostel on numerous occasions for many years (7 or 8 years perhaps?).

A got to know D at our hostel more than a year ago. However, their friendship soured 3 nights before the World Cup final, when a casual conversation about airfares sparked a disagreement which later turned physical. In that scuffle, the cctv footage clearly showed D as the one who used physical force on A first. D had reached across a table to slap a spoon out of A's hand forcefully. When both parties got up from the table to walk towards each other, it was D who shoved A first. Eventually, the scuffle stopped and both parties returned to their seats at the table, across from one another.

On the night of the World Cup final, A was the last person to come to the lounge to watch the match. By then, everyone had settled in. A found a seat at the back of the lounge, which happened to be behind D. D was blocking A's view, but D was there first. A asked D if he could move to one side, but D didn't move. An angry verbal exchange occurred between the 2 of them. D pointed to his chin, and challenged A to hit him. A grabbed D's neck from behind and cocked his fist when other guests quickly pulled A off. Eventually, A sat down and everyone continued to watch the match.

The next day, we investigated the matter to establish the full facts. A acknowledged that what he did the night before was wrong. When informed that he had to leave the hostel, he requested to be allowed to stay a further 2 weeks. He had accumulated a lot of things during his 1 1/2 years at the hostel, and needed time to shift everything out. He promised to keep a distance from D, and not to cause further trouble at the hostel. His intention was to remain in Singapore, and he didn't want to get into any trouble, lest it jeopardised his chances of remaining in Singapore. We didn't think his request was unreasonable, having regard to the fact that D was not entirely without blame for the incident. After all, D had used physical force on A first in the first incident, and had provoked A to hit him in the second.

If there's any hint of A or D posing a danger to other guests at the hostel, we would certainly not have allowed either of them to continue staying. It has been a few days since the incident. Both A and D are still at the hostel, but both are keeping a distance from one another.

At our hostel, money is not the motivational factor. We've been in business for 12 years. When we first opened, our rates were S$18.00 per night for a dorm bed. Today, it's S$20.00. Our rates have barely moved, despite inflation in Singapore averaging 2.81% per year (i.e. 33% over 12 years).

We have always been committed to providing clean, comfortable and affordable accommodation to travellers on a budget. Year after year, we see familiar faces returning to our hostel. The friendship which we've formed is what we cherish the most. That's what motivated us to get to the bottom of what happened, and resolve the dispute as amicably as we could.

With regards the choke, it has been unclogged, so it's happy days once again!

While staying at the InnCrowd, I stayed both in a private (double) room and in a dorm. Both were fine - nothing spectacular but definitely decent. This may be one of the cheapest places in Singapore too, which is great for budget travelers.

The location is convenient, about a 10-minute walk from either the Little India or Bugis MRT stations, next to lots of amazing restaurants.

The room itself was clean though a bit stuffy. The air conditioning worked well and we had a comfortable sleep. There are no private showers in any room but the shared showers were fine and we never had to wait for one. The night I spent in the dorm was OK, though I had some noisy neighbors that made sleep a little difficult.

The free breakfast, though very basic (hard-boiled eggs and toasts & jam), is a nice addition. The staff was pleasant and helpful.

In conclusion, it's obvious you can find better places in Singapore but I'm not sure there is better value for money than the InnCrowd.

Stayed here for our one and only night in Singapore, the staff were helpful and we got reduced price Night Safari tickets from them. Dorms were basic bunks, not 'pod' style dorms which are more private. Lots of showers (hot and cold water) and toilets, which, importantly, were clean.

Air-con in dorm couldn't be adjusted and seemed to be on a very high setting and not cool at all, I was on the bunk farthest away from the air-con unit and was sweating all night!

The hostel is located in a great position in the heart of Little India. Friendly staff who were very willing to help us plan our brief stay in Singapore. Decent WiFi and lounge area. We didn't get the chance to go on the free scooter tour but that seemed like a good perk as well.

For the price (20 SD) couldn't expect much more. Dorm rooms and bathrooms were fine and clean. My bed was under the air-con unit and slept fine although friends did complain that it was a bit hot.

This place is great for backpackers. Plenty of great bunk beds, shared washrooms, a cool common room and ok breakfast. Why the low rating you ask? We booked a tour through them and had to take the bus. The gentleman working at the hostel told us that the bus would be at a certain stop. We followed his directions carefully and accurately at a bus stop. It was there that we stood for 2 HOURS. Not a single bus that we needed passed by. Me and my lady were furious. When we came back and explained our situation calmly they wouldn't even refund the tour money back or compensate. We ended up wasting our whole night for nothing and getting ripped off. Don't trust these guys!
