“Excellent location, good service”

Located in the heart of Chinatown, it is a good location as many stores and restaurants are within walking distance. The staff is very friendly and helpful with all of our questions and inquiries especially Mausah!

Hotel 81 China Town is located at a very convenient location, i.e., within walking distance from China Town MRT Station and various bus stops, from which you can go to almost all sites of interest for tourists conveniently. There are plently of shopping malls, money changers, and good restaurants within 150 meters. Rooms are moderate in size but well organized with cable TV, hot water showers, coffee set, and toiletry supplies. Unlike many other hotels of the same category in Singapore, Hotel 81 changes towels and cleans rooms daily. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Look for Mr. Teo Yu Ming and his colleagues at the reception desk, you will get all good advice and help you need if you are new to Singapore. I just wish that Hotel 81 offered breakfast and had a small gym facilities. I will certainly come back and stay in Hotel 81 China Town again.

Room Tip: Before submiting your booking, do not forget to ask Yu Ming or his colleagues to book you in a room...

Was here with my wife and parents for a 2-night's stay. Here are my points why I rated this hotel poorly.

- Expensive - hotel price is abit steep considering the poor factors that follow:
- Terrible pillows - pillows are very soft and wouldn't support your head/neck properly for a good night's sleep - my wife suffers alot as she's very sensitive to neck support during sleep
- Noisy traffic - situated at the junctions of two of the busiest roads in Chinatown, the noise of traffic were not properly insulated and will cause you trouble sleeping
- Lousy Internet - The provided wifi internet connection is choppy and unreliable, and the fact that they charges S$10 per 24-hour usage. (Tip- go get a local data sim card as a better deal - Singapore has an excellent cellular data coverage)
- Room is very tiny for its price

Conclusion:
Stay away from this hotel unless you don't mind all these factors.

Room Tip: Corner rooms are larger. For Internet - go get a local data sim card as a better deal - Singapore h...

This hotel locates in the heart of Chinatown, a historic area of Singapore. There is a 24 hours minimart just 10 meters from the hotel. The hotel is newly renovated, although there was strong strange cleaning smell. The room we had was very small. If you have big luggage you will not have space to place. The room cant keep noise from housekeeping trolley. We could have hardly sleep. The bed is hard, but clean. Hotels in SIngapore are expensive. This is an ok place to stay if you dont mind about space.

Stayed here after coming here pretty late in the night after an unpleasant start to my Singapore move - didnt have time to check on Agoda or Expedia for room deals so approached them for a price. SG$140 for a chicken coop sized room with no internet. Asked them for complimentary wifi and they came up with a price US$10 even though I was only staying from 2 AM to 9 AM. Asked them for a late check-out and was given a time of 2:30 PM - came in a few minutes late as I was rushing back from office and the lady at the counter demanded 15 dollars more in a very surly way - managed to convince her that my suitcase was packed and just needed to bring it down. Her look of disgust was fairly upsetting. Anyways would never recommend this hotel to anyone unless they only want to stay in Chinatown - the least you can do is employ staff who are helpful but I think for the hotel industry "ripping people off" is what they do best here.

Room Tip: Try and choose a room in another hotel! :)

Easy 45 minute MRT ride from Changing Airport to Chinatown and hotel is 100 yards away from station on New Bridge Street.
All rooms are small but adequate Very little space for luggage so better for light travelers
Specifically there for F1 and very good rate
Internet free but annoying that password is changed everyday
No breakfast facilities but Chinatown on doorstep and plenty of choice
They love to use deodorizers here and when we arrived overpowering!
Asked to get the windows opened( which are locked) to let natural air in They obliged whilst we went out for a couple of hours but cannot leave windows opened I think it must be something to do with the A/C and also with the windows closed there is little street noise
Request room cleaner not to deodorize room if staying more than 1 night so problem is not repeated the next day
Bathroom very small and typical "wet" room but overall small accommodation very clean
We had late check out at 1 pm with no extra charge and able to get last morning in strolling around the area and able to keep luggage in room
TV with selection of English and Asian channels There is also a VCR
2 free bottles of water and coffee machine
Body wash and hair shampoo dispenser in bathroom
Friendly staff
If you need a hotel to totally unwind ,use common areas and facilities this is not the place to be but if you just need a place to sleep and then either work or explore its a good deal

Room Tip: Ask for a street room although the windows do not open not as claustrophobic Interior rooms have n...

Had a chance to visit Singapore for a weekend and decided to give this place a try. The biggest motivation of picking this hotel was the price and location.

For what I needed for my visit, this hotel was more than adequate.

My biggest complaint would be about the walls are not properly sound proof and I was able to hear all the sounds coming from other rooms.
