My husband and I opted for a staycation over two weekdays at Changi Cove. We drive, so its remote location isn't an issue for us. We also liked that it is away from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Our double room came with a beanbag, which was rather comfortable. The bed and pillows were firm, and provided us with a good night's rest. The size of the room was adequate, the shower pressure was good and the L'Occitane shower gel as well as shampoo and conditioner were nice touches.

On to the bad parts.. Breakfast was served till 10am, so my husband and I trudged down at around 8.45am. The breakfast spread was limited to about 4-5 local delights such as carrot cake and pau, some pastries, toast, cereal and fruits. However, given that we still have about an hour to go before the breakfast buffet ends (and there were guests still arriving for their meal), we were appalled that none of the service staff on duty took the initiative to replenish the food and beverage. The coffee and milo pots were almost empty, and so were the juices. When we alerted one of the wait staff, we were informed that "Yes, I CAN top it up". Shouldn't this be a "SHALL", not a "CAN"?

Many of the service staff were noticeably pretty young - they look like teenagers on internships or part-timers working during the school holidays. Many don the "Trainee" tag. During breakfast service, they were 4-5 of them on duty, with nary a supervisor in sight. To their credit, they were very efficient in clearing the tables, but their lack of initiative in replenishing the food and drinks left a bad taste in our mouths.

We noticed too that when clearing tables, the staff would spray what we assumed was disinfectant. After wiping the table, they would then spray a second bottle and leave it to dry, without wiping it down. This struck us as rather strange as guests utilising these tables soon after would be placing their valuables on wet surfaces.

Another minus point was the mess we saw at the lounge area. This was around noon, when housekeeping should have done their rounds in the morning. The coffee machine for guests in the lounge was also running on empty, and there was no staff in sight, so we couldn’t use it.

Room was cosy. Particularly adore the washable painted wall where you can use it as whiteboard, get creative. The swing was a good change from the usual sofa setting. Not much activities you can do around the area but liked the fact that you can try the nature trail which will lead you to Changi Village in 20 mins.

Unlike most of the hotel I've stayed in Singapore, Changi Cove is one of his kind...
Located on Changi outskirt, no MRT within reach, only by Taxi, or Bus and around 10 minutes walk. However if you drive a car there is complimentary carpark. However it is quiet and low density, so it is great for a quiet weekend retreat place.
Rooms are spacious compare to other Singapore hotel, comes with great in room snacks and Nepresso machine. All guest are allowed to use the cosy guest lounge with 24hrs free flow of espresso and snacks, which has few board games and some reading materials for relaxing. Few outdoor seating areas are nice, surrounded by trees and greens.

a great choice if you could live with its distant location.
