“OK for 2-3 nights stay”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 September 2011

On the over-all, this hotel is okay and I wouldn't mind staying here again. It's not grand so don't expect 5 star service nor quality but good enough for 2-3 days stay. Quick list of pros and cons:

- good location. It is central in location so any place you want to visit will take about 10mins by cab (and some are walking distance), compared to staying at Orchard area which would take about 20mins)
- the rooms are clean; not huge but spacious enough to be able to move around
- the pool is not big but good enough for cooling off after sightseeing
- the staff are welcoming, polite, and helpful
- there is a 24 hr foodcourt and several cafes a few steps away. the money changer and 711 is within hotel vicinity (take the connecting passage inside the hotel going to Alsons)
- taxis right infront of the hotel, and train station a few steps away so no need to worry about transportation
- good building security as the key card is required for the lift and pool/gym area

Cons:
- small lobby that feels like a bus station with so much luggage around
- there's variety for breakfast for both asians and westerners but i didnt like the food -- too bland
- there's a gym but too few equipment. cramped too
- the mineral water is not complimentary and no morning paper (which i think should be standard although the other hotels i've stayed at are more of the "premium" type so maybe that's the difference when you pay a higher price)

If you want to be at the center with some peace and quiet at night, this is a good choice. But if your agenda is to shop til you drop, then stay at the Orchard area.

We stayed here from 26th Aug to 29th Aug, we arrived early in the morning and checkin was quick by 0915 we were in our room not many hotels would let you in your room before 1200.
The lobby area is being renovated but a porter came out and brought our luggage into foyer.
Yes as other people have reported tha shower curtain was a problem we did flood the bathroom a few times.
The hotel is by the MRT station which is good for getting around
On our last day we checked out at 1200 but were able to leave our cases in the foyer your cases are tied together and a ticket issued to reclaim them later you are allowed to use the showers in the swimming pool towels provided if needed to freshen up if leaving later on in the day
The staff are polite and helpfull the only downside is the food in the resturant is cold we had a meal on the first night in the hotel food was nice but all of it was cold
The hotel was in a good location and I would stay there again

We stayed here as a stopover on the way to Europe as part of Singapore Airlines package. The hotel was undergoing renovations which it desperately needs. The rooms aren't too bad but the foyer and pool area look tired. The staff were friendly and helpful but it isn't helped by the hotel being away from most of the tourist type restaurant areas although it is very close to Raffles Hotel. We spent a considerable time trying to find someone to eat on a Saturday night. Going anywhere means either a decent walk or a Metro ride. Overall we have stayed in better places in Singapore and if you get choice pick something closer to Orchard Road.

I stayed here on my way to Europe as part of a Singapore Airlines stopover package.
To be honest I wonder how Singapore Airlines, which seems to pride itself on high standards would associate their name with this hotel.
The staff were, with one or two exceptions indifferent. The breakfast, inedible. My (apparently) non-smoking room had clearly at some stage in the recent past been inhabited by the Smoke Monster from 'Lost'.

Location wise the hotel is fantastic, a short walk to the Bugis Market, a slightly longer walk to the Marina Square & Suntec shopping malls and almost next door to an MRT station for access to the rest of Singapore.

I certainly would not pay the room rates listed in the lobby and felt ripped off at having paid the greatly reduced rate offered through my stopover package.

We stayed here for two nights as part of a Singapore Stopover Holiday, we certainly would not have paid the full tariff. Our room was perfectly comfortable and pleasant enough but the shower curtain is completely hopeless - you are either wrapped in it like a shroud or if you push it out of the way the whole bathroom gets flooded. I wouldn't eat in the restaurant, there are much cheaper options for eating nearby. Little India is a walkable distance, I would probably take a taxi if you want to go shopping at Mustafa's. The hotel is almost next door to a MRT station, and generally seemed well located.

not a good experience... spent 2 weeks living here when on business, and had such a horrible time daily with the front desk, and concierge -- largely a nonchalant, lazy staff, with a few exceptions -- had one nice duty manager in the lobby, and 1 nice bellman who were helpful and apologizing for their co-workers. Rooms are reminiscent of holiday inn or quality inn's in the 1970's -- stale, musty, pokey -- places you would NEVER want to put an ultraviolet light in! Internet speeds are OK, but often broke down. Showers are old, toilets are older, amenities are cheapest of the cheap, and towels thin and small.

LOCATION is good -- close to various restaurants, coffee, subway etc...

Hotel is one the few that is smoking friendly.

Bottom line, you get (almost) what you pay for -- cheap 3-4 star gets you cheaper 2-3 star service and quality. Since they claim they are 4 stars, I have to disagree, and only give them 3.

We stayed here as a family in two seperate rooms. If we had of known that there were renovations being done at the front entrance we would not have booked here. No doorman to help with our luggage which was heavy to carry up the steps and through the night club area. Staff were off hand except the concierge. They did not seem very friendly. Our rooms were quite comfortable though but the shower curtain thing was a nuisance. Pool was in poor condition tiles were cracked or missing causing our grandchildren to have scratches and scrapes. It looked nothing like the inviting photo on the internet. Buffet breakfast was expensive with not a great choice. Best part the chef cooking your choice of omelete. Drinks were over the top in price. A glass of wine for $16 is highway robbery. not enough seating in the lobby for people waiting to be picked up for their airport transfer and not allowed to sit in the night club unless you buy a drink.
Internet access is expensive at $6 for one hour. Bugis market and Bras Basah close which was great. Definitely would not stay again. Very disappointed.
