Bang inthe midfke of the city, these beautifull homes from the old era amonst the midetn builfings of Orchard rd.

The hill is only s few minutes walk up and diwn with some nice bars and restaurant's to visit at the bottom of the hill.

Worth a look at the beauty of these buildings while your in orchard road.

Tucked of Orchard Road is a small street - Emerald Hill Road. If you want to see well preserved, Chinese Baroque buildings then this little enclave is the place. Chinese Baroque architecture is a blend of European Neo Classical shape but with Chinese embellishments like the windows, doors and tiled roofs. Most of the buildings have wooden shutters. The some of the buildings are painted in bright colours, others are white. Often the doors, windows and grilles are embellished or carved, some have original Chinese Lanterns hanging outside. Although this is only a small street when you stand in the middle of the area, you could be miles from the hustle and bustle of Orchard Road which is only a few hundred meters away. The day I visited the area was so peaceful, I had the whole place to myself.

Live music, people out enjoying life, cool architectural detail, slightly underground. Definitely best for night visits.

Emerald Hill is a few seconds away from the hussle and bussle of Orchard Road. It is a street of old "shop houses" painted in vibrant colours tastefully converted into bars and restaurants. So relaxing after a hectic day of retail therapy!!

Emerald Hill is tucked away off Orchard Road, in fact on our first trip we completely missed it and walked straight past! It's a small street of bars / restaurants, very quaint and a nice respite from the busy Orchard Road area!
