Peninsula Excelsior Hotel

Peninsula Excelsior Hotel was my stopover hotel during a first two-day visit of Singapore. Very tired and not being able to go to my room because of early arrival, annoyed me, but nothing was too much for the (very busy) reception staff to help me as best as they could.
The moment I was able to go to the room, I enjoyed every minute of my stay. Wonderful room with spectacular view, a good bed through which my tiredness soon disappeared.
I specificly want to mention the great effort of restaurant staff (chef and waiter) to prepare me a special meal (according to my dietary guidelines). Even an excellent dessert (panna cotta) was brought to me personally by the chef. Next time I will plan a longer stopover in Singapore.

The location is very convenient for getting around to just about any place. Subway close by, walking distance to the Marina. The room is a bit dated but clean. At U.S. $180 (including tax but no breakfast) I do not find it such a bargain, but the ease of getting to places somewhat made up for it. One complaint is that the cleaning staff did not automatically top up supplies such as teabags and sugar -- we have to leave a note asking them to replenish.

After a long flight this was a a perfect place to relax.Rooms are well appointed and very clean. The location is perfect.Easy access to the main tourist features. Most are within walking distance.
The pool is excellent and was big enough for a real swim.
Loved the Botanical Gardens and the Orchid House is a must.
The Colonial Buildings are lovely especially the Singapore Cricket Club.
Forget the tourist trap Raffles and try the Fullerton on the waterside.Superb.

We used the hotel twice to break up journeys to and from New Zealand and it did this job more than adequately. The hotel is centrally located and a good base from which to explore the city centre and Marina Bay.
The staff were very good, in particular the receptionist who checked us in early and found us an available room after a long, night flight.
The quality of the rooms differed somewhat for each stay. The first had a small bathroom with a shower over tha bath and a rather mouldy shower curtain whilst the second had a modern bathroom with a walk in shower.
The booking was via Singapore Airlines and included transfers to and from the airport. As such it was excellent value for money and would certainly recommend.

Room Tip: If you don't need the bath, ask for a bathroom with a walk in shower.

We stayed for two weeks in the Peninsula Excelsior Hotel. We stayed in club room on 22nd floor with loads of free services as (corporate deal).
- Complimentary Breakfast
- Complimentary 2 piece Laundry
- Complimentary Snack and Drink (6-8 pm)
- Samsung Handy phone (Unlimited local and International calls)

The hotel is always occupied with guest. Breakfast and Snacks served are good to taste and had varities as well. The club room have very good view of MSB and other attraction.
The hotel is at 5 mins walking distance to Clark Quay and Boat Quay (Both are famous as tourist attraction).

Polite and helpful staff.
Service was above average and not to forget to get an experience and satisfaction of term "value for money".

Booked in for three nights and requested early check in. Advised room would be ready at midday so arrived at hotel at 12.15. Advised that room would be available at 1pm as they were busy. I waited in reception and went to counter again at 1pm, advised to come back at 2pm. At 2pm the room still wasn't available.
Finally got a room and went upstairs....all the rooms around mine were getting repairs done on them and it was really noisy. I requested water for the rooms, and was charged $15 dollars for two bottles.
When I was waiting for friend in lobby, a cleaner walked thru with toilet brush dripping on the floor. This is the worst hotel that I have ever stayed at.

The room was nice, I won't complain about that. The room door was really hard to open, and I had my grandmother on a wheelchair, so coming in and out was very difficult. Nothing to rave about the breakfast. The pancakes were very stale and hard to swallow. The front desk staff were okay, but the housekeeping staff were very friendly. Don't think I would come back here in future. Good for maybe a night, but not a holiday,
