“Awesome yakitori”
Reviewed 3 January 2014 via mobile

Had a great, casual meal here tonight including grilled meats, sushi, grilled rice, gyoza, and various veggie sides. All for around $50US....a good deal for the area. Atmosphere is lively, busy, and small, but worth it!

Right across the sky bridge from Royal Plaza on Scots hotel and next to the Marriott.

“Still the best Yakitori in Asia”
Reviewed 9 December 2013

Last time we had the pleasure to have our dinner was a year ago.
It is still the best Yakitori in the world by far.
We as usual ordered Japanese Beer and hot Sake which go best to the tasty Yakitori. We love the Chicken Liver, Tsukune, Chicken wings etc.

Make a reservation. Most enjoyable is to have seats at the counter and the guys working there are really busy and they do a great job.

We will be back.

“Always a delight. ”
Reviewed 24 November 2013 via mobile

This is one of those Japanese joint I always revisit because I know they will give you good food with great service.

I have yet to try anything ala carte but defintely will go back to try it. Always took the dinner set as I do not want to think since I just wanna have a nice dinner and go since I was alone.

Is a must try. I love how they wrapped bacon with tomato. Is tasty with juice oozing out; so tasty! Yums! If you love yakitori, do pay a visit.

“good place for lunch”
Reviewed 28 October 2013

Located in the far east plaza on the fifth floor this small japaneese yakitori is the perfect place for lunch. Very similar to places like this in Japan. They have a lunch menu and a full menu. We had the beef set and it was great.

“Possibly the oldest Japanese Yakitori in Singapore”
Reviewed 13 September 2013

Nanbantei is possibly the oldest Japanese Yakitori Restaurant in Singapore.

Entering the simple wood furnished outlet, you can see that seats are limited in this small and comfy restaurant. Simplicity is the core of Japanese cuisine. I’m very glad that they accept seat reservations if not I’d probably be eating Tori-Q instead. The ventilation system is also strong, sucking away any of the smoke from the grill; an absolute must for a Yakitori restaurant.

A huge variety of skewer yakitori and sashimi to choose from, Nanbantei excels on the simplicity of it's seasoning and ingredients, depending largely on freshness of the raw ingredient.

The chefs just whip out whatever the order is, seasons with salt and pepper then slaps it on the grill. That's pretty much the entire cooking procedure.

Not exactly cheap also for Japanese Yakitori, but it's a treat to see 2 live chefs grilling your food in front of you.
