“No frills, terrible soup, drop in standards?”
Reviewed 8 March 2014 via mobile

Wanted to look for a nice quiet place for our date. Was disappointed with the poor quality of the food. Won't return again.

“a hidden gem”
Reviewed 21 February 2014

This place is an oasis, away from the endless movement and bustle of Singapore. Although it has changed locations - it used to be further down the Portsdown Road - pretty much everything else has remained the same. In a city state that tends to change things incessantly this little anachronistic restaurant is a tonic, and a reminder of the slow pace of the 'olden days'. I can think of nothing better than sitting in the veranda area of the Colbar, watching the days sky fade to night, listening to the whurr of crickets, and all the while sipping on an ice cold Tiger beer. The food is consistently good. I wouldnt say stylish, but great tastes - the chicken curry is a good choice. Whenever i go to Singapore i always make a point of going to this quirky little beauty spot.

“Great!”
Reviewed 6 February 2014 via mobile

Great spot, authentic, cool atmosphere, away from the hustle and bustle of the city centre. Really enjoy this place - no nonsense, good value food and beer.

“No Frills Great Food”
Reviewed 29 January 2014

If you want a great, cheap chicken curry with no frills the come her for lunch. Massive selection of beers to wash it down and a bit of history with the building as well. I was a regular customer.

“Authentic character and fantastic food”
Reviewed 22 September 2013

Don't expect a luxurious setting and table service. You order at the counter, grab a beer from the fridge and the food arrives shortly at your plastic table and chair. It's as simple as that, however, the food is amazing (we had a mixture of UK kids meals and Chinese for the adults). It's a very social affair and a step out of the the norm by Singapore standards.
