We stayed a few nights at this cozy bed and breakfast at the beginning of the Chilean spring. My husband was attending a conference at another hotel (Gran Hotel Pucon, seemed old from the lobby), which was totally booked. We happened to find this place by chance on the internet, and I am so glad we stayed here! The location is perfect- steps from the town, the lake and directly across the street from a lovely park. The Casona is a typical antique southern Chilean home which was lovingly restored by the owners. The interior is rustic and smart without crossing the line of being too country. The main living room has a lovely fireplace (working every day we were there) and comfy places to sit and read (there was a good selection of magazines when we were there). Our room was cozy but a little on the small size. We did not travel light on this trip and we had to place our bags under the bed to make decent walking space. The bed was very comfortable and the linens were very fresh and good quality (cotton, goose down). The bathroom was clean but average- a bit cold at night and our shower was small. We loved breakfast which consisted of freshly baked cakes, bread, ham, cheese and yogurt. Please take into mind that the Casona is more like a bed and breakfast, not a hotel, so we felt like guests in home rather than anonymous visitors. Take a peek in the kitchen at the old stove- still used to bake the kuchens and cakes. Also, it is a restored wooden house, so we could hear footsteps of people coming and going sometimes- it is not a place to be loud. It is a peaceful, clean and cozy place to stay in Pucon. By the way, we had a couple of great meals at La Maga- an excellent Uruguayan steak house.
