Stayed here for a couple of nights. The room was large and airy with a great view of the lake. They speak good English at the reception and there is plenty of room to park the car outside the hotel.
We ate at the hotel restaurant which was surprisingly good. All in all a great place to stay especially if you have a car as you can avoid going through the town centre to get to the hotel.

Room Tip: Get a room overlooking the lake.

Located at the pinnacle of a small hill above the lake and apparently with all rooms facing the lake and volcanoes you'll be impressed by stunning views from the expansive window wall in your room with a door opening onto a small private terrace. Our very quiet 4th floor room was generously sized with a comfortable king size bed. The sink/wash basin area is semi-open onto the main room and the bath/shower toilet is in a separate room, though uncomfortably small considering the expansiveness of the main room. Rather than a step in tub with a clunky plastic curtain reminiscent of the 1960s, a first-class walk in shower would have been great. Cleanliness and attention to detail in the public spaces seemed impeccable, though we found attention to cleanliness and service in our room to be less than satisfactory. Staff at the entry and at reception seemed always friendly, pleasant and helpful.

From the hotel it's an easy 5 to 10 minute walk to the heart of PV and its many restaurants. During our four night stay we had dinner one night at the hotel restaurant and found the food and wine menu to be good, but not great enough for a repeat dinner. Breakfast consisted of a fairly wide range of self-serve offerings including numerous luscious pastries along with cooked-to-order eggs. Try the custard apple juice if offered. Each morning the so-so coffee seemed always to be lukewarm at most.

Overall, we were bowled over by the stunning views from the hotel but found the rest of the experience to be less than stellar. The great views pushed our review rating from a 3 to a 4.

Hotel Cumbres is absolutely fantastic....it's not what you would expect in this quiet small town. The lobby has a huge fireplace to warm the large, cozy, comfy lobby area which is next to the bar. It is surrounded by large windows to view the lake and mountains. The outdoor bar has heat lamps so you can sit outside when it's chilly and enjoy the nice view. Rooms were very comfortable and large. Staff was very friendly. Hotel is located near the restaurants and shops. You can walk to these along the sidewalk which runs along the river which is just outside the hotel. Great location.

Room Tip: Get a room facing the river and mountains.

Looks like a Swiss lodge in Chile
Next to splendid lake
The views of the volcanoes ... Snow covered ......... Make the whole scene magical
Interesting artisan crafts in town
Restaurant provided local produce meals ... German hint to food, perhaps this is where German settled

Room Tip: Ask for a balcony 610 is an example
