Had three really nice nights here. Very comfortable room and bed and friendly staff. The house is old and quaint, one of the historic wooden houses of Puerto Varas, so there's a lot of noise from the bathrooms and stairs. but that is to expected. Location a little out of town centre on the hill which provides great views and the opportunity for excercise. Simple breakfast of bread, cheese and meat but the wholegrain bread and homemade cakes was a nice surprise. Would stay here again.

Hostal Opapa Juan was quiet, clean, and not really exceptional in any way. Our room was larger than average. The staff was helpful when we had questions but not otherwise particularly friendly. We did find it a bit annoying to have to ring the front doorbell every time we arrived there. That said, someone was always quick to answer and let us in.

Also note that we had trouble finding this hotel using our standard approach of asking locals in the central part of Puerto Varas. Make sure you have a good map of where to walk before you show up in town.

Room Tip: Room #10 was in a corner: two walls with windows and probably quieter than most of the rest of the h...

I spent 5 nights there and felt just like at home.
The room was very comfortable and warm, hot water night and day (although, because it is an ancient house, you would hear squeaking noises most of the time).
I got sick in Puerto varas, which made me spend more time and the hotel than I would like to. But Renato and his mother, who run the hotel, were very helpfull and nice to time, making everything I needed to feel better. Thanks a lot guys!
It is in a good location, not right in the center, but a short walk from it, in a nice residential area.
The breakfast was great, with home made marmelade and kuchens!
The house itselft is cosy and clean, and you can just fell at home.
Great stay!

We stayed in Hotel Opapa Juan for one night and it was too long! It was a very cold hotel. It was cold physically and personally. Even though it was down in the 30’s F at night the heat was turned on very shortly in the morning. Although we speak a little Spanish, the matron showed little patience with us or attempted her own meager English skills and basically ignored us. Other guests were treated much more warmly and with enthusiasm. Also, the road out front is a main artery for traffic, and the noise from the traffic was very disturbing as well as the noise from any faucet being turned on, toilet being flushed or the walking of another guest anywhere in the hotel. This is not 3* establishment. AVOID!
