Owner description: Sometimes called Lago Esmeralda because of its blue-green color, this strikingly beautiful glacial lake is bordered by steep cliffs.

The Esmeralda or Todo los Santos lake is turquoise in color the most beautiful I have ever seen. The view of the Osorno volcano and the forest around it with trees turning upward is very scenic. We took a boat ride in this lake it was very cold as it was winter but still the ride and the peacefulness of the place is comparable to being in Heaven.

I fell in love with this lake. It's breathtakingly beautiful. You've got the Osorno Volcano on one side, dark green trees covering the steep mountains on the other, and turquoise blue waters in the center. Bring your camera. And your lunch. A picnic on the sand by the lake is therapeutic.

I did a solo hike on the Isolation Trail whose entrance is just a short walk from the lake. As a relatively novice hiker, it was challenging for me, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. I was there during the off season, so I hardly ran into anybody on the trail. I probably took 200+ photos - it's quite a photogenic walk with snow-capped Osorno to the west and Todos Los Santos to the east. It's not recommended to do the entire trail if it's cloudy or foggy, but there's a shorter version you can do that doesn't climb up towards the volcano. The last bus back to Puerto Varas leaves at 6pm from the lake.

The area should be cleaned, but the view is magnificent. Don't forget to take a boat ride.
It's possible to sit on the beautiful beach as well.

It is the wonderful blue colour of this lake that makes this place so special. That and the magnificent Osorno Volcano which can be seen during much of the journey. Through Turistour we took a days boat trip across to Peulla where we stayed for a few hours before catching the boat back to Petrohue. Going by boat allowed us to enjoy commentary about various focal points on the lake - learning about its history & the people who live by the water. On the way in we also visited the Petrohué Waterfalls. Take a picnic to Puella and sit at one of the many look out points for a magnificent, peaceful backdrop while you eat your lunch.

The lake is very beautiful and is called "Lago Esmeralda" which means Emeral Lake because of its colour. Never saw anything like this.
Dislike? Nothing
