Every time I am in Temuco I stop here, since I have business nearby. It is a nice place to stop and watch the locals and maybe try mote con huesillo. The square is busy, but enjoyable.

Temuco is a city, located in territory that was under the control of the "Mapuche" people. The Mapuche culture, crafts and way of life are still visible in and around the city. The Mapuche culture is one of the most interesting things to experience in this area, the rest is quite boring.

This is the main square so it is unavoidable. It is a nice square. Look a the central big sculpture that celebrates mapuche people. Also look at the trees, you can find here quite old Chilean palms. If you see a stall offering "mote con huesillo" go for it.

Extremely noisy. I stayed at a hotel near the plaza, and it was noisy even if the windows were closed. There are festivals and marches on the weekends. The plaza itself is pretty.

Visited this plaza a couple of times during our visit and enjoyed the performers and monument and just sitting in the shade.
