“Very nice hostel, lively outside”
Reviewed 3 June 2014 via mobile

Apart from a nice communal area our rooms (both doubles, with a private and shared bathroom) felt more like hotel rooms with nice decor, good beds and tvs. Place was really clean with a lovely roof terrace. Short walk to the nearby metro and lots of bars/restaurants nearby. Helpful staff on the front desk, but you couldn't get laundry done. Despite good external windows the street noise, which goes on until the next morning, could get loud in the rooms. Weirdest point was breakfast - it was tasty, but really badly organised. Not enough seats for everyone, with toaster/cereal/tea in a cramped corner only 1 person can access at a time. Also there is one very overworked lady trying to give you all freshly prepared fruit salad (whether or not you ask for it) and juice, whilst tidying and washing up. It made no sense!

This is my first hostel experience, and I absolutely enjoyed it!
The hostel is very clean, they clean it daily -- the free daily breakfast is fresh and plenty. Great facilities, the rooftop terrace has a spectacular view of the hill.
The only thing that could be improved upon was the community feel - it would be nice to have more hostel events on offer to meet the people there. Oh! and the air flow in the rooms, it got really hot at night because the windows needed to be closed due to noise on the street.

Unlike many places that were pre-existing establishments remodeled to cater for travelers, H Rado actually looks and feels like it was built to be a hostel, so it has great infrastructure. Ground floor has the 24h reception with friendly and helpful staff; second and third floors have the rooms and shared bathrooms; and the fourth floor has a large common area with free wi-fi, computers, TV, living room, kitchen, dining facility, and a terrace with a great view. Breakfast includes bread, cereal, milk, yogurt, juice, and a colorful plate of fresh fruit set by the lovely ladies who work in the kitchen.

I stayed for eight nights at the 6 bed mixed dorm ensuite -- which could lodge up to 8 people. The decor is nice (as the entire hostel), the room is spacious and spotless, the lockers are large, and the comfy beds, all with individual lampshades, are made up every day. Good location on barrio Bellavista, a charming and safe neighbourhood with many restaurants, pubs and clubs to choose from. The streets might be noisy during the weekends, so if you don’t plan to go out at night and have light sleep, I recommend bringing ear plugs. Very close to Cerro San Cristóbal and the Museo La Chascona, and within walkable distance to some of the city’s main tourist attractions. Baquedano, the closest train station, is only a few blocks away.

This hostel is more like a boutique hotel than a hostel. Everything was modern and clean. The rooftop terrace was great. The only thing that sucked was that the wifi only worked on the roof. No big deal. It forced everyone in the hostel to interact. The staff was always attentive and answered any questions you may have about the area.

The hostel is clean and in a great, hip location. The only problem is the area the hotel is located in is very loud - think drummers and samba dancers in the street right under your window all night.

If you want to party all night this is your place, if you want to sleep choose another.

Room Tip: Don't get a room facing the street it is very loud.

What's not to like about this hostel. Wide comfy beds, large lockers, clean ensuite toilet / shower with soap and towels. A large common area with clean well equipped kitchen, large balcony with views of area which was great for drinks. There was a couple of computers for the Internet and the wifi was ok but limited to the top floor only - ie you won't get it in your room.

Friendly staff including a lady who prepares and cleans up breakfast. This includes fruit, yoghurt, toast with jam, juice and coffee. The staff can direct you to almost anywhere you want to go from where the best restaurants and bars are to laundromats nearby.

So that's it only two negative things - previously mentioned wifi and street noise - stuffy in rooms with windows closed vs street and traffic noise till 5 am or so most nights of the week.

But to be fair in a dorm room your sleeping companions will be just as bad from partying Argentinians who think there is nothing wrong with switching lights on at 3.30 am for 30 mins and talking loudly for an hour to snorers - pack ear plugs and ignore them.

I'd go back.

Probably the best hostel I've ever stayed. The lockers could fit my 70+10 L backpack and there was space left. Great location for party - all bars and nightclubs are really close. Friendly staff, great terrace, great showers, best hostel breakfast ever.... nothing bad to say about it!
