Foodlays is a very large, indeed, spacious restaurant on nearly the top floor of a multistory "mall" in the La Vega section of Santiago. La Vega is a vast partly open-air market, offering everything from canned goods to fresh fruits and vegetables, as well as meat and fish. Foodlays is located adjacent to La Vega on the street Artesanos, which is the continuation of Bella Vista. When one first exits the elevator on the floor where the restaurant is located, it looks as though one is entering a gymnasium, and one is not quite sure where the restaurant is. Keep walking, towards the street, and eventually you will arrive at the very roomy space where there are a large number of gigantic tables, many of which are next to the very large windows looking out over Artesanos, a park, several major boulevards, and the Eastern side of downtown Santiago. Each table has a very large rotating glass platter in the center, which allows one to simply give it a light push or pull to gently spin the platters of food to your companions. For the area, the restaurant is not at all noisy, the traffic is not very audible, and the view is not bad at all.
There are two menus, one that offers conventional mostly Cantonese fare, and another much larger menu in Chinese and Spanish that offers more northern Chinese food, perhaps typical of the Shanghai area. I say perhaps, because I was not very successful in conversing with the Chinese owners or operators of the restaurant. In any case, it is suggested to go with at least 3 or 4 other people, and to simply order a number of plates that look interesting, Most are, and the portions are quite large. I would say that each portion in general is easily enough for two people if one only ordered one dish, so four dishes, and perhaps some rice, are easily enough for eight persons, in my experience. Service was rapid and efficient, and the first time I went to this restaurant, there was a fair number of Chinese having lunch there, which I always take to be a good sign. Prices are moderate. All in all, I recommend this restaurant.

I am from Hong Kong. Very surprised I can have food which taste just like those from home. I can say it is even better than lots of restaurant of HK.

We tried many things, all are really good. they have traditional Guang Dong Dim Sum. Below are some recommended.
- rice roll with beef or shrimp or bbq pork (made by order) 牛肉/蝦/叉燒腸粉
- shrimp dumbling (xia jiao) 蝦餃
- tender beef 牛
- whole bbq duck is juicy n tasty 燒鵝
- black fungus with sesame oil 麻油木耳

I will be back for sure! It desires me spending some time writing some positive comments.
