“Badly organised, uncomfortable rooms and noisy”
Reviewed 22 January 2013

We initially booked three nights in a double en suite, after reading the description that the private rooms were sleek and boutique-like. We had to change our plans, giving plenty of notice and calling in advance to ensure that we would still have the same room, but for only one night. We were assured on the phone that this would be the case (we had paid our deposit already). On arrival we were told that no private rooms were available so we ended up sleeping in a four bunk room with a shared bathroom. The bunks were uncomfortable but we were lucky to be on the opposite side of the hostel from the outdoor bar area as the music continued late into the night.
The beer garden has a nice vibe though and it's in an interesting area.

Once we arrived at the hostel, still at the reception, were stolen by two thieves already inside the hostel. We chase them down the street and retrieve my bag with everything inside, camera, passport, everything! And when my friend came to help me, other thief took the money that was in his wallet on top of the reception desk, and the person who was in the hostel reception did not look nor done anything.

The manager of the hostel said it was the first time that a theft occurred there and thought it best not to call the police.

The price they told us on the phone, two hours before, was different from the price charged when we got there, saying the room with that price had no vacancies. 6000 demanded in 9000.

Room noisy, the noise inside the hostel with loud music late into the night.

The cabinets of the room did not seem safe even using padlock, the port cover was easily pushed in and I could easily put out and pick up objects stored inside.

After that we had already installed there, we found a hostel in the next street, almost the same value and that seemed to be much better, even with pool and quiet environment.

Room Tip: Stay in the hostel in the next street,

The hostel is situated in colorfull district, always clean, the team is amazing : Edouardo and Nickolas are always smiling, ready to help, to advise and talk about their country, their experiences... Best HI TEAM !
The foods done by the hostel's cook is amazing : Real Chilean food like in every family. Moreover, this service is very cheap : only 1500 pesos.
Moreover there is a BBQ ready to use in the garden which includes a bar and plenty of sofas ! => Perfect to mingle and party!!!!

HI perks include: computers, WIFI, clean bathrooms, good location and great patio.

drawbacks: rowdy groups, variable service, it's overpriced, and there is only bread and coffee/tea for breakfast.

additionally, i am pretty sure my iPod was stolen in the 3 days my bag was "guarded" in their unlocked closet accessible to anyone.

Receptionists were just horrible. For a 9a flight I was told I had to take a taxi for 50000 pesos because the airport bus starts at 8a. Bus actually starts at 6a for 1400 pesos. Another couple I asked was quoted 30000 pesos for the same ride.

Morning receptionist told me to catch the airport bus at the bus station which was also incorrect.

I did end up staying two separate nights. The first night, a Friday it was extremely loud from party in backyard until 3 or 4a. Wednesday night with window to street instead of back was much better. I ended up paying for an extra night as I stayed only 1 night on a 2 night reservation because I got a last minute flight to Easter Island and was charged for the night on my return despite the receptionist saying he would take care of it. On the bright side they did store my bag for free for 4 nights.

Facilities in general are OK with very fast Internet. Free breakfast consists of self-serve rolls (butter and jam), coffee/tea, and juice.
