We were traveling from Mendoza to Santiago via bus, but were delayed a couple of days due to some unexpected snowfall closing the Chilean border in the Andes. We ended up arriving late and having to change our reservation multiple times, but the staff at Hotel Loreto could not have been more accommodating and understanding and totally adjusted all of our reservations based on our later arrival. This was our home away from home after being stuck in the snowy Andes for a long, long time, which was not very much fun.
We arrived lacking sleep, cold, and disheveled and were immediately treated to what was one of the best breakfasts of our entire South American trip. They have eggs! Both boiled and scrambled. Such a luxury based on our breakfasts everywhere else. Also Chirimoya juice! SO GOOD. Really nice breakfast though with tons of options and the gentleman who typically sets breakfast up is really nice.
Anyways, as to the hotel itself, it's very modern, very clean, very nicely designed, quiet, and really comfortable. There is a nice rooftop terrace where you can chill out with a bottle of wine and watch the sunset, little living room areas with TV's on the upper floors (we hung out here for a while waiting on our late flight out), and a really cool court yard as well. The location is actually great. To one side of the hotel, near the markets, you'll find it almost eerily quiet and a little spooky at night since everyone leaves at about 5 or 6 pm, but in the other directions you've got all the museums and downtown just across the river (like a 3 minute walk, for real), and then in the other direction Barrio Bellavista with so many great dining options, night life, bars, clubs, and then Constitucion after that. Really cool area and along with Lastarria, our favorite parts of town to hang out at night.
Great hotel! We loved it. Thanks!
