We spent our last night in Santiago at Abracadabra and were really pleased at our choice. Christian was very welcoming and generous. He took us to a great Peruvian restaurant just round the corner, which we would never have found by ourselves, and helped us order as we don't speak Spanish. He answered emails promptly and was very interesting to talk to.

The place is in an interesting neighbourhood, very central, near the metro and handy for getting to the airport - the taxi took just 20 minutes at 8.30am. The room was simple but nicely furnished, with a huge and very comfortable bed.

Spent 3 lovely nights here in a double room. Christian the host was very helpful and informative. Spoke great English and was very personable. Location was perfect for what we were after. Breakfast was delicious, and appreciated the freshly squeezed orange juice every morning. Highly recommended!

I live very close to the hostel and booked a total of +40 nights for a total of 10 guests over a 3-week period in March 2014. They came from Europe and the US in order to attend our wedding. The English-speaking owner, Christian, who took over the B&B a couple of months ago was extremely friendly and helpful during the entire process, always almost immediately replying to messages, giving guests in-depth travel suggestions, offering free storage for bags for those who used Santiago as a base camp to discover the rest of Chile, and even ordering a doctor in the case of sickness. The hostel is in a surprisingly quiet road considering that it's located in central Santiago. Breakfast is very delicious. The rooms are small but very clean and well maintained. All our guests were very happy to have stayed in the Abracadabra. Thank you, Christian, for running the Abracadabra such an enthusiastic and committed manner!

Room Tip: If you are noise-sensitive avoid rooms 1 and 2 as they are facing towards the street.

Simple, comfortable B&B in a beautiful house in Santiago. Close to everything, including the metro. Christian, the owner, was very obliging and generous. We had to leave early for a flight and missed breakfast and so he left us a snack.
Would recommend.

We very much liked this little B&B—it was very light and bright, with nice architectural design features and very nicely decorated. It was difficult for one of us to sleep because of the noise on the street (though it was January, so we had the windows open). Christiano, though, was extremely welcoming and friendly and really made our stay memorable. He was a great host!

My husband and I stayed here 3 different nights during our trip around Chile. We found the place to be very comfortable (great bedding!) with a bountiful breakfast (boiled eggs, meats, cheese, breads, muffins, fruit, jam, juice, tea, & coffee), and a very kind and helpful host (Kelly is wonderful and speaks great English!). The location is also good: close to the metro and within walking distance of many things in the downtown area.
We stayed in room 1 with a shared bathroom, which was just fine for our fleeting stays.
You should be aware the hotel does not provide shampoo/conditioner or soap. We found this to be the case with a few hotels here though. Also, the windows panes are quite thin so some street noise will come in.
Overall, we found it to be a very good option, especially for the price.

The location is excellent – center of Santiago, close to everything, on a quiet street. There is a café down the street, a metro station and several bus stops nearby, minimarts, and several Asian restaurants. Many buildings around have beautiful murals, giving the area an authentic feel and charm. Lots of dogs hang around – happy, well-fed and well-behaved.

Our room was somewhat small, and unfortunately it did not have any shelves to put our stuff. The small TV was perched up on top of a tiny wardrobe with enough space for about 4 hangers, and no shelves. No place to put sweaters, nor hang towels to dry, either.

The owner met us the evening we arrived, showed us to our room, gave us a pack of milk and a plastic bath to use for our daughter, also travelling with us. Also, that first evening the owner helped order food delivery, which was very nice of her.

However, that was all the help we got in our 7-day stay there. No help making sense of the tourist brochures or with making reservations, not even a question whether everything was OK. The housekeeping staff was very nice, but not particularly helpful. [At a dozen plus of other small B&Bs we have stayed in over the years, in different countries, there were either the owner or a front-desk person willing to help. But not here. Thus the rating of below average.]

There was also a bunch of smaller issues. The breakfast is identical every morning – the only variation is which items on the plate are stale (fruit, eggs, cheese). No napkins in the kitchen, no tissues anywhere, no shampoo in the shower, and at some point even no toilet paper in the common bathroom. The tea, coffee and soap provided are of poorest quality. The linens are changed on the 4th day (i.e. once in a 7-day stay), there is no top cover on the bed, and no place to hang towels. There is no dark curtain and no mirror in the room. The WiFi is painfully slow, even though we visited in the off-season, and the hotel was mostly empty. The heat was off, and the both the room and common areas were very cold.
