nice hotel slightly dated
swimming pool and jacuzzi need some tiles to be replaced
Staff could be less "douchey" you work at a hotel where customer service is suppose to be top priority. It wouldn't hurt to smile!
Also, absolutely ridiculous that for the price they charge they then have the audacity to charge 12,000 pesos ($24) for internet connection per device.

My wife and I started our tour of Chile and Peru in January in Santiago and stayed at the Ritz Carlton. It is in the best part of town on the edge of the main business area where the tallest building ever to be built in S. America is under construction. The hotel is opposite a new arts centre and there are some excellent restaurants within walking distance. The whole area has an affluent feel to it, unlike downtown Santiago which is interesting to visit in daylight hours but not somewhere you can stroll around on a warm summers evening as we did going out to dine from the Ritz Carlton.

The restaurant in the hotel is very expensive but has a great wine cellar. We were given a wine tasting before dinner which encouraged us to order a bottle of superb Chilean wine which made up half the final bill!

There is a lovely roof top pool with very comfy loungers and an open area at one end. This helped us recover quickly from the 13 hour flight from Madrid which ended with stunning views of the snow capped mountains in the Andes. Yes, as other reports mention, the hotel is a bit tired and no doubt due for a makeover before long but it is the best area of town and the service was excellent.

We stayed here for 2 nights in January pre cruise. The views from the 14th floor room were great and the pool area was excellent.
Breakfast each morning was chaos! Shortages of everything, poor service and average food.

Stayed here four days in December. area good in the elegant El Golf area. We had just arrived at the beginning of 2month holiday in South America and Antartica. Hotel looked gorgeous for Christmas decorated with Sleigh, Christmas trees, hot drinks in foyer. My husband was taken ill and they arranged car to amazing modern hospital where he saw three specialists within the hour, given the okay to continue trip with specialists mobile number unreal. Santiago is a fab place, walking distance to cafes and top restaurants. The breakfast in hotel superb, a little hectic when dealing with group tours. room service which i usually dislike, also fresh and hot. Would go back there again. Staff very friendly and helped us when chips down.

Room Tip: not really as we stayed on level 2 with courtyard, did not check other rooms. book spa before leavin...

This Ritz is old but still exudes the air of luxury we come to expect. The facilities are excellent -- stunning rooftop pool and spa area with gym. The rooms are also large but I was surprised by the towels, which were old and thin (I've had better at a hostel!!) and skimpy bath supplies. The customer service was also excellent, as per usual. The only downside is the location -- it is in a ritzy area, removed from the Bellas Artes/Barrio Bellavista areas which are shocked full of cultural sites and great outdoor patios/restaurants and bars. If I had only a few days to spend in Santiago, I would have gone with the Bellas Artes area which is the epicenter of touristic life in Santiago.

Besides the Ritz facilities, the highlight of our stay was our Christmas Dinner at their upscale Argentinean cuisine restaurant, Estro. IT WAS AMAZING!! One of the BEST meals we had our entire (and we visited 4 countries!) -- thoughtful choice of ingredients, presentation and wine pairings. Even the restaurant itself has thoughtful unique elements to tie the experience with the Southern region of Chile (this is mostly thanks to the manager who hails most recently from NY and has a real five star touch with the ambiance, right down to the placemats (colorful salmon "leather" from Patagonia). With this culinary experience under our wings, we left very pleased and satisfied with our stay at the Ritz.

Room Tip: Higher floors, better views

We arrived at the Ritz Carlton at the end of three weeks travelling in South America and really appreciated the high level of service. From the moment we arrived all staff were incredibly friendly and helpful and it was a treat to have English speaking staff instead of relying on our poor Spaniah. We had booked a Club room and Carlos our client service manager personally suggested and organized a two day program for us. Nothing was too much trouble and we would certainly return if we are fortunate enough to get to Santiago again.

The hotel is beautiful and the room is quite good.
Nevertheless, I did try to pay for an upgrade but the front desk 'lady' was rudely shut me up informing me that there was no room available. There was no need to " snap" at me that way.
I was very upset and sad indeed!
I thought she was rude and offensive just to me personally but apparently she was awful to many more people of our group - at least 3 that I spoke to !

One French woman said the front desk woman actually " yelled" at her!

The meeting rooms are underground so it was not great but in older properties this cannot be helped.

The Spa was quite old and the showers box were falling apart with streak of lime!!
The therapist was also cold and unfriendly.

I find the staff very strange to be in hospitality business, especially in a cut throat business today , customers should be treated very kindly.

Just to check out for next time, I went to the Grand Hyatt and had an opposite experience with very kind and friendly staff.

I was sad because I am the Ritz - Carlton member.

Next meeting, we will move our meetings to a friendlier place unless they start hiring naturally polite and friendly people.

Funny how one staff can ruin the image of a great hotel!

By the way, none of the rooms has the view to the Andes which is a great pity.

Room service food are very good but they always get things wrong or forget knives or something every single time we were there. So be patient as it it certain that you will have to wait until they bring you the silvers !

The restaurant of the hotel is very good and worth visiting. The wine bar is famous, if you drink. I didn't have the time to try myself but apparently it is a must.
