Warning: The ticket that is issued at El Colorado is an electronic ticket that you put in your pocket. It does not have any instructions on it, English or Spanish. If you try to punch it and attach it to your coat like we do in the USA, it WILL NOT WORK!!!! It will be a big hassle to try and exchange it.

The Western face that shares a border with Valle Nevado has some awesome off-piste bowl skiing. We were fortunate to hit it on a powder day and it was great. Unfortunately, they only have t-bar surface lifts over there, so it takes a lot out of you.

The east face is pretty boring. Just straight shots down the mountain. There are a few actual chair lifts, but they are the slowest lifts I have ever seen in my life.

The food at the restaurant at the base was quite good, a lot better than at Valle Nevado, but just as expensive and just as slow.

Much larger resport since we were last there. Excellent off-piste as well as well groomed pistes. Its a shame it isn't on a shared ski pass with Vallee Nevada as their runs are now so very close

Tough to review one ski resort when in fact it's centrally connected to Valle Nevado and La Parva which comprises the larger "3 Valleys" area. The front side of the resort is strictly groomer stuff but the back side has some steep runs and wonderful off piste terrain serviced by poma lifts. The view from the top is quite spectacular with good perspective of the other two ski resorts and the smog fill blur of Santiago way below. If you're an expert skier/boarder and willing to take the risk there is some exquisite out of bounds terrain with some chutes that will bring you down to the main road to Valle Nevado. There are no lifts to haul you out of there so necessary to come to some arrangement with a driver and car. Do not attempt this without a guide and appropriate avalanche safety gear. Technically one can ski across all three resorts but you have to buy a day pass for each of the Colorado and Nevado resorts to do so. There's a fence with a chip reader turn style at the top of Valle Nevado that allows you to cross back over to the Colorado side. We took the risk and stepped over the turn style without anyone noticing. when snow cover is good you can ski from the top Valle Nevado across El Colorado and down into Farellones.

If you're going through mid summer ski withdrawal then a flight to Santiago airport will bring you to within an hour and half drive up to El Colorado and the 3 Valleys area. The switchback road up is tenuous and when the weather socks in you can be stranded up there until the roads are cleared. Still this is a great place to ski when it has lots of snow.

I don't ski often and I found there were many beginner slopes, which I did't find in other ski centes. The service in general is good, there a good public bathrooms and many restaurants.

We are beginning skiers and El Colorado was great and lot's of fun! We took the bus from the Santa Isabel Cantagallo in Las Condes. We rented everything in the city as it is cheaper than the rentals on the mountain. We left at 8:00, the bus took almost 2 hours and the ride had some crazy turns and amazing views.

We were slow getting of the bus and changing into our gear. Note: the bathroom and lockers are downstairs (take the stairwell near the cafeteria). We found the ski school and booked a 2 hour private lesson with Gonzalo. The ski school classes start on the hour, so we had to wait until 11 to begin. The ski school also includes 1 ticket for "Colorado Chico," some of the smaller slopes that don't have chairlifts. We didn't know this and ended up not going on one slope because we weren't allowed. I would recommend buying the full ticket.

In our two hour class, we learned about how the skis work, how to get in and out of them, use the polls, speed up, slow down, and ride the lifts. At the end we were doing full runs on the green slopes without falling too much! We really enjoyed the class and learned a lot.

After the class we rode the "Los Zorros" slopes once more and walked up to the main building for lunch. We brought sandwiches but ate in the cafeteria. Then we went to try and go on "El Pinguino" but the Colorado Chico ticket didn't work (that's why I recommend the full ticket). So, we went the Colorado Chico slope and attempted to get all the way up using the T-lift (it's really hard and many people fell). I tried once more, but the lift grabbed be by my jacket and lifted me up until they stopped it. Thankfully there was soft snow at the end and I was laughing! The slopes got icy in the afternoon and it was harder to ski.

We took the bus back down at about 17:15 when everyone leaves. It took another 2 hours and we were back in Las Condes by 19:15ish.

Overall the day was great, the slopes were fresh and almost deserted in the morning, and the teacher from the ski school was great. It is also an easy day trip from Santiago. It was a great day and I would definitely go back!!!
