This is one of the many rental apartments at Edificio Infinito, Santiago Centro. It´s a nice apartment for its value. The building is relatively old, and there are like 1,000 apartments, so it´s kind of scary when you arrive. The apartment consists of a bedroom, a bathroom with a small bathtub, and a living room + kichen. All the furniture is new and nice, but the cleaning could have a little improve. The advantage of this flat when compared to others in the same building is that the owner lives in the same building, so you have someone to help you if there´s any trouble late at night.

Looking for budget accomodations in downtown Santiago, we found this place on the internet, so we decided to check it out. When we arrived, we discovered two giant apartment towers linked by a courtyard and lobby. There was no reception, but rather a security control point. We asked for the "reception" for Santiago Apartments, and we were directed to one of the units on the 4th floor. No signage indicated any difference from any other door, by when we rang, we were greeted warmly by an older woman who invited us in. It was just one of the regular units, and the family who manage some rental units live there. They spoke english and were very helpful setting us up with a unit and providing local information.

The apartment was small, but cozy and functional, with kitchen, sitting room, bedroom, large closet and bathroom. The kitchen was nicely stocked with most eveything needed to cook and eat in. The large bed was very comfortable and the unit was clean. My big complaint was the lack of AC, as it was very hot the first few days we were there. I asked for a fan and the management supplied one. Thank goodness, otherwise it would have been unbearable. Once the heat wave broke, it was quite comfortable. The other complaint was the housekeeping, or lack thereof. We ended up staying a week, and after the first day, we didn't get maid service again. So we changed our towels out once and tossed the garbage down the chute a couple times, and we were fine. There is a pool on one of the top floors, and the cool water felt great on those hot days. Great views of the city too. There are at least three management companies operating in the complex and they all have pictures of the same pool. There is also a laundry room with many washers and dryers, which was very nice to have. A curious thing happened while we were there. A series of strong storms hit the Andes outside the city and caused flooding and landsides that forced the closing of the water treatment system for the city of Santiago, so were without water for the better part of the day. Most businesses had to close down too. The grocery stores were cleaned out of bottled water in short order. Good thing we had bottled water in the fridge.

Room Tip: If your unit doesn't have AC, ask for a fan.
