This hotel reminds me of a smaller, more adorable version of a modern hotel such as the W, and the somewhat cramped feeling of European hostels. It pulls it off well, but if you are used to large lobbies, elevators fitting 8-12 persons and their luggage, and palatial in-room siting areas, this is not the place for you.
It is minimalist in its design, but still has the hues and textures that soften up modern rooms and make them more accessible to people who are not lovers of modern design. The small (~10 table) eating area easily meets the breakfast needs of guests. The bar is very small and not really meant for groups to congregate. I would describe the bar-restaurant area more as a café with well-thought out menu, but which is more focused on groups of two or three, than on larger groups.
We arrived at night, about 30 minutes before the kitchen closed, and were properly tended to and served a delicious meal. Still, after also having had breakfast, I believe the server/waitress is not up to par with the rest of the experience. She was efficient, although also distant and never smiled. Her service was in stark contrast to the young, energetic people who care for the bar and front desk. Especially Paulina, who was a fantastic front desk agent with a warm, caring demeanor and a wonderful smile.
We stayed in a room that overlooked the park and had a small balcony. Noise would have been an issue if we had been expecting a picturesque balcony in which to sit and watch people walking by. We understood this was a city hotel and got exactly what we expected, a nice place to look out over the park at night, but a place with bus and car noise during the day. They have invested in good doors and windows since the noise that did enter our room did not present a problem even though we were on a third floor overlooking a busy road.
In summary, this is a very good modern hotel with soft touches that will make it pleasant enough for to those who don't like modern design. It is best suited for couples or single travelers. The restaurant serves a much better variety of food than what such small hotels normally serve and has a decent wine list as well.
