This tour is so cool!! Located in a residential area, there are 35 amazing street-art murals painted on 3-story buildings creating an Open Area Museum that has life, vitality, and beauty that is garnering international attention. It is a testament to civic pride and a sense of community!!

The tour is an easy walk and Ian our guide was so friendly, knowledgeable about the murals, and willing to answer any question. Take the time to see these murals – it’s definitely worth it.

There is a difference between "destructive" graffiti - urban tagging that defaces surfaces- and this kind of street art. Ian walked us through the process involved in this amazing urban revitalization/beautification process. The rather run-down barrio of San Miguel, just off of the "Departmental" metro stop on the Orange Line (Line 2) was the site of a project to utilize "waste" space on the ends of 3 storey apartment blocks, previously just the site of defacement by graffiti, and turn it into a place of civic pride, and a showcase of artistic talent. There are some 35 murals, with themes ranging from environmental, social, political, spiritual, to whimsical. The art work is simply stunning, but I think the changes it brings to the community are even more important. If you care at all for art, and for the reversal of urban blight, this is absolutely a don't-miss. They were a little (well, more than a little) hard to get ahold of, but persevere! It's more than worth it! "Urbn Stgo" Check at the Bar Clinic. Thanks, Ian, and keep it up! Regards, Rod

I went on the urban art tour and loved it! It's like going to an art gallery, but in the street, and a lot more fun. I feel like I got to know so much more about Chilean culture and history through the creativity of this city's very talented artists. The murals are in a suburb called San Miguel. It's a beautiful place, very alive, with music in the streets and the walls of the apartment blocks make the perfect canvas. The work is truly inspirational, and really makes the place come alive. If you like art, culture, or just adventures off the beaten track, this is a must do!

This was a fantastic way to spend a couple of hours in Santiago. Ian our guide took us to San Miguel in the south of the city (via the metro), to see the Open Air Museum in San Miguel. We saw approx. 35 murals, virtually next to one another on adjoining buildings so you get to see a lot of murals within a short distance. The murals themselves were impressive and Ian had lots of information to share about the meaning behind the murals and details of the artists. Whilst San Miguel is typically not a tourist area we felt completely safe the whole time. Ian was kind enough for us to arrange to meet us at Bar The Clinic the following day to give us a Santiago street art magazine. Unfortunately we were leaving Santiago before the ARTE ACCESIBLE event however Ian was kind enough to take the time to show us around Bar The Clinic. I’m ashamed to say a couple of members from our group left at the end of the tour without warning, saying bye to another group member but not even having the courtesy to thank Ian let alone tip for their tour (at the time the tour was ‘tip based’, although I noticed there is now a price on the website – quite possibly for this reason). We really recommend this tour - especially if you want something authentic and 'off the beaten path'.

Santiago itself boasts tons of amazing street art, but this tour takes you to a little known place that you won't find in guidebooks. You will see dozens of huge amazing murals of different styles, highly recommendable!
