I have been at La Finestra several times in row now with my wife, friends or colleagues, almost since its opening. We are Italians, so we are always looking for an "italian" retreat where to find home, and La Finestra became now our first choice.
The entrance is a bit humble over the typical anonymous road in Nuñoa, sort of "intellectual" suburb of Santiago, but when you get in you discover the place is huge, with several rooms, an open-air area and a Pergolato. In winter a few little rooms guarantee privacy. We really feel at home here. In terms of ambient this is really a nice place where you feel in an Italian, countryside "Trattoria"
As we always do, we introduced ourselves to the owners, some young Italian "enterpreuners". We liked them very much. They are clearly trying to stand out respect to the other "Italian" popular restaurants in Santiago, and I think they are succeeding. The place is loaded with people more and more.
The food IS good. It has now clearly IMPROVED. The pizza is now the best you can find in a restaurant in Santiago. They use good ingredients and the dough preparation is what is must be, although they should include the offer of pizza with a real mozzarella (and mozzarella di bufala). That is my only criticism.... The pasta is excellent too, specially the ripiena (filled one, like ravioli, etc.) and the pappardelle. A particular option is a marinated salmon I personally recommend you to try. The personal is very warm and kind. The dessert are also good and they have a decent selection of wines and beers.
If they will maintain this standard, or maybe improve it, they will win more and more customers to more popular competitors.
p.s. I'm a bit stingy with the rating... that's why I gave them a 4 stars, but this is probably equivalent to many other people full score...
