“An awesome surprise”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 May 2014

The Andes apartments are excellent. I didn't stay in the hostel itself, but the apartment is really upscale and clean, for a great price. The location was also excellent. Very near a scenic park and the downtown shopping district.

Room Tip: Stay in the apartments.

Nice enough place with clean sheets and large rooms, good breakfast and helpful staff. I stayed in a 6 bed dorm and was good. Lights above beds could do with being fixed and more that 1 electrical socket per room would help. Great tv room beside reception that barely got used. Good location right next to metro stop and supermarket. Staff are really helpful especially night shift guys.

There are a lot of options in Santiago. Maybe look for a better value for money hostel. The location is great and so close to the metro which is a great way to get around the city. I had a room and the front and found it difficult to sleep because of the noise from the Main Street outside. The reception area is a bit vibe less as you see the same people sitting on their phones all day. Just a place to stay rather than an experience.

Good location and a cool place to stay. Comfy lounge area with wifi, super helpful staff and a good kitchen. Thought the costs were reasonable for Santiago. Only problem was a hot night, no fan or a/c and too noisy outside (traffic, party people) to have the window open much.

We booked an apartment so we were around the corner from the main hostel. Very happy with the unit:clean, modern, nice furniture. A supermercado next door for everything you need and good cafés, bars and restaurants nearby. Very close to transport and attractions.
Staff were very helpful and friendly.

Good central location. A bit too good! Windows don't do much to keep noise out but it didn't bother me with earplugs in. Showers and cubicles need some attention. Doors need replacing or fixing as do pipes but showers were nice and hot which us what matters.

Breakfast nice. Rooms clean. Beds comfy with good linen.

Needs more mature reception staff but they were very helpful on the whole. One of them had his friend in reception playing guitar really badly on the Friday evening. He claimed to like the "music". Made me smile to hear it described as music.

Wi-fi appalling. Barely works, even in the main room.

The hostel is very clean, very central, has central heating, very helpful staff (English speaking), good breakfast that keeps you on your legs for a day (scrambled eggs).

But, the WiFi does not work in the rooms and is shabby even straight next to the router. Also, it is pricey in a city that does not have much to offer, hit the countryside instead or use the underground to commute.

Thank you, radekstepan, for your review about our hostel. We're sorry you found our hostel expensive but I can assure you that since we are located in the heart of Santiago (the captial of our country) and steps away from most of the highlights of the city, our prices are not only up to par with the city rates but many of our guests find that our value is incomparable to our rivals´. Also we do not have Wifi in our rooms because we encourage our guests to meet other travellers and participate in our activites instead of staying in their rooms all day. We do apologize if the Wifi in our lobby wasn't working correctly and we have, since then, taken all measures to improve it. Thanks again for your stay and your opinion!
